If you subscribe to socialist tendencies, you are a socialist.
If you subscribe to racist tendencies, you're a racist.

The problem is there are vastly more socialists than racists, and socialists don't like being identified as such.

I'm tired of those who advocate socialism complaining about being called socialists.

.

Alright, I subscribe to socialist and capitalist tendencies. Am I a socialist-capitalist? How does that work?

Actually, Cherokee great great grandmother from the reservation. My family has the papers and everything too somewhere.

On the res there is a saying. What do you have if you have 100 Cherokees in one room? Answer: One full blooded Cherokee.

I find it very hard to belive that someone wouldn't be allowed in with a nearly perfect score because of his race, while a black man would be allowed in on a 40%. It just reeks of you making up numbers to help your case. Surely if this is true, there's evidence of it under the Freedom of Information Act.

Then apply, Dinkins "Rainbow coalition" was simply fact. I have to thank him though, his racism led me into the USAF whic led to all sorts of great things in my life.

And my bad, I think it was "60%" not 40... But the point remains the same, there was a different score requirment based on your race and sex.

If you don't believe me, you are free to file that FOIA, hell if you prove they didn't have this in place, I'll give the board $500 for your valuable time. :ssst:

I think people from all political ideologies can be tired of the race card being played constantly. Who's tired of Democrats calling every Republican policy racist? Who is tired of hearing that all Tea Party protesters are racist bigots? Who is tired of hearing Jesse Jackson spread his filth? Who is tired of the race card being played in the legal system? Who is tired of racism always being placed before us? Who here is just tired of racism in general? Democrat, Republican, Liberal or Conservative, who is tired of racism being so prevalent in politics and criticisms?
im sick and tired of racism

I think threads about rascism can be useful, but unfortunately they so often get abused, same as with the threads about feminism and womens rights. One would wonder if people are actually interested in politics, or if they just want to troll.

Are there any troll sites on the internet, where some folks can go and let off steam?

''im sick and tired of racism ''
Yeah, and the races on the receiving end of it are likely even more sick and tired of it.

I would be perfectly fine with real stories about real racism.

But the hyperbole and male bovine excrement is everywhere you look these days, when a so-called "racism incident" occurs.

I'd guess better than half are totally bogus, made up or blown completely out of proportion for political reasons or a try for ratings.

All the while completely overlooking the actual incidents and stories of real racism.

I think the problem is the stuff that gets attention is largely political ploys, and the stuff no one hears about is where the real racism lies.

Dennis the Menace- "the part where he's feeding the guy the beans, so he can get the handcuff key out of the pot". Thats what it feels like to me, like now they have to force it down our kind, sensible national passions, so we can keep eating the rhetoric of , feel badism.
ENOUGH! I got me a Black American president- I put him there for the very reason to show the race baiters- WE GET IT. America works!
Next- lets move on to sumpin else.

Yes, I am sick and tired about this subject.
Simply nothing but forgiveness, tolerance, and acceptance will work.
But people cannot do these things.
This includes me.

I'm much more tired of people complaining about hearing about racism than I am complaints about racism.

I'm sick of white people and Christians playing victim and then pretending that they don't and that everyone else plays victim.

Granted, there are too many people of all stripes playing victim. But white folks, men, and Christians are just as good at it as anyone else - in fact, they seem to be getting better all the time.

I'm not sick of hearing about racism, I'm sick of hearing about race. And I don't give a damn about victimhood, either-- life isn't fair and if you spend all your time crying about it you deserve to rot in the compost heap of history.

This may be the only thing that I agree with a fascist about: people aren't created equally. People are just better than others at certain things. Are there trends across races? Of course, it's genetics. Are some races better overall than others? That's a bold claim and I think impossible to prove.

Btw, it is the fact that people are better than others at certain things which makes society valuable. It's why we may make fishing poles while the other guy gets the bait. Otherwise we would just split the responsibility or do it ourselves.

Especially considering there's no such thing as a pureblooded member of any "race", and the classification of races is a social construct that varies from nation to nation, arbitrarily combining or dividing the various ethnic groups. I've said it before; racism is just nationalism for retards.

I'm sick and tired of people complaining about being called racist, if that counts, because it doesn't seem to be happening all that much.

Racism /discrimination can be extremely funny to those who understand the absurdity of it. I worked with a south african women for a while who had weird prejudices against dutchmen (and blacks, bosnians, and god knows what). We had a great time feeding her, basicly agreeing with everything she said, trying to prove her point by using dumbfounding arguments. We took fishing trips, a trip to the sewers, to the cities recycling centre, to prove her she was right saying that "dutch people stink".

Well, sure. But this is a country built on slavery and in which the strategies of both of the major political parties are based inherently on racism, with de facto segregated schools and neighborhoods, huge incarceration rates for Blacks and Latinos and economic white supremacy.

Race is the very prism through which people view politics, events, and the value of other people. I'm sure Alaskan folks are tired of hearing about snow. But it's everywhere you look. Racism is to such a huge extent the fabric of our lives. I believe, as Dr. King did, that most Americans are unconscious racists. Not because of any personal immorality on their part, but because of American history and because of an economic and political system that is still entirely dependent on it.

That is all to say, I'm not sick of hearing about racism so much as I am sick of racism.

Are you implying that I, a white man, am not on the receiving end of racism?

Yes, Racism is the reason for huge incarceration rates for Blacks and Latinos and economic white supremacy...just like racism is the reason, why my father immigrated to this country, at the age of 40, not being white (we're Chinese), not speaking more than two sentences of English, and without a college degree, but six years later managed to get a job that secured a middle class income and life style for our family. Racism is also the reason why my friend's neighbor, having fled from his native country of Cambodia, after spending time in a Khmer Rouge prison where one of his arms was severed below the elbow, moved to the United States, got a job working for the Post Office where he had to walk two hours to/from work each day (not having a car or lacking a knowledge of the public transportation system) for years, managed to buy a house, move his entire family to the States with him, and provide for his family (now he, his wife, and his kids all have cars). I apologize for the run-on sentence.

Are you still living in the 70's?

Are you still living in the 70's?

No, but in the 80s a Chinese man was beaten to death in Detroit, by two white American males who were recently laid off by one of the American car makers, because they thought he was Japanese. The judge saw fit to fine the men, $2,000 each, and despite extensive testimony by eye witnesses the two men were found not guilty.

I'm sorry, what about the 70s? I wasn't alive then, so I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to imply.

Your obvious prejudices on this topic slanted your survey choices. I think that racism still clearly exists, still deserves to be addressed, and should be addressed openly and candidly, without throwing out names and pots and kettles.

And, no, I'm not tired of discussing actual racism, and talking about ways to deal with it.

p.s. I would suggest that your view of racism has a lot to do with the fact that you're white, male, and living in Tennessee. I suspect you rarely experience it.

I'm not tired of discussing actual racism either. For example, is it racist for black people to vote for Barrack Obama simply because he's half black? If one could prove beyond a shadow of the doubt that the basis for their decision was the color of his skin, and not the politics/issues he stands for/behind; would you Catz consider that racism? If yes, how would you propose we deal with that "hypothetical" scenario?

As for the experience of the young black Memphis 19 year old. I must ask, as I've only visited Memphis (once); the scenario you describe for our hypothetical or based on a true story African American friend, what is the premise? How is our friend attired? How does our friend carry himself? Generally how would you describe our friend?
