It reminds me of Cheech Marin's movie: Born in East LA.

I remember that movie. His character was asked who is the president and he responded with "that guy from that cowboy movie(or something similar to it, its been a few decades since I seen it).

I wouldn't want to remove anyone from the US who wanted to live here. The fact that there are so many "illegals" is a result of our overly strong and discriminatory immigration laws, and the fact that many poor Mexicans and other Latin Americans simply aren't in the financial position to go through the process of immigrating legally. If people want to come to this country we should take that as a compliment and assurance that the ideals we aspire to are ones that appeal to people all over the world. We should remember two things, that all Americans are descended from immigrants however distantly it may be, and that without people who fall under the more standard definition of immigrant (groups like the Irish, Germans, Italians, Eastern Europeans, Asians, and others that came in big waves) this country would be nothing like what it is today and I believe it would be worse off.

So... I guess the shorter way to say that is I would support amnesty for illegal immigrants way before I supported some kind of systematic mass deportation.

Poor mexicans that can pay coyotes thousands of dollars to bring them across? Not sure what it costs to come in legally. I doubt it is as much as they pay the smuggler. Seems they could use the money for better things.

It's disgusting. This law is going to promote racial profiling and is going to trample on the civil rights of many, whether they're illegal or not. The law says a policeman can detain anyone he suspects to be an illegal if they can't provide proof of legal US residency. Imagine an American citizen being detained because they didn't happen to be carrying any ID, simply because some cop thought they looked Mexican. It's disgusting. Hopefully some of this legal action that's being taken will do something about it.

I can not only imagine it, it happens every day to any one that doesn't have ID and the cops want to know who you are, and they can hold you for 72 hrs. until they do find out who you are.

Those that are crying about profiling and racism, you have spent those cards for too long... the account is over drawn and no longer will those cards be honored.

We can't fine the employers of illegals because they claim to not be experts in the immigration field. But now, the police are expected to be the experts? No, not experts, just arrest Mexicans. You'll be excused for the ones you get wrong by the laws of Arizona. This will never last.

I always thought this was the dumbest thing. An employer can't tell if a worker is legal, but I bet if the same guy was selling a used car he would be able to tell how many credit cards he had in his wallet and how much he owed on each one. An employer saying he does not know if a worker is legal or not is just so laughable.

Caca del toro.

Someone has to be bat-**** CRAZY to NOT want this law. That or they simply do NOT understand it. Any person that pays state taxes should WANT this law.

This law is about States not imploding on crime and on finances. It has nothing to do with race.

It has to do with people from another country invading our land and breaking the law for their OWN SELFISH REASONS.

I like mexicans a lot. I like their family structure and their work ethic (and food too!).

This is NOT.. NOOOOOOOT about ethnicity.... this is about people that break the law! It just so happens 95% of the problem is NATIONALITY. They are all from mexico!

Not MY fault they did that because they did this to THEMSELVES!
