Small but no less embarassing.

See I almost feel better if it is shia's doing this because I can just brush it off but when it is Sunnis .... and my sectarian side comes out

If that is the worst thing that would be said about Islam, we are getting it easy. You have no idea how many times Christianity gets insulted one way or another on UK television.

That's the funny thing. In that very episode they had...

Jesus looking at internet porn.

Moses as a giant computer program that talked like he had a learning disability.

Vishnu turning into Niel Diamond to sign a duet with a crotch-poison spewing mechanical Striesand.

Jesus Acknowledging other gods and being teamed with "false prophets" (Joseph Smith).

That's off the top of my head with regards to religion in that one episode.

They've had one episode dedicated to the catholic church molesting children, with a second episode where priests having leashes on near naked little boys was a running gag. They've depicted the Pope as a stooge over a American Bishop who orders other catholics to Kill Jesus all to hide that the first pope was actually a Bunny. They've had Jesus become so bored with his life and needing to find popularity that he throws a massive concert at the turn of the new cenutry, as well as having him help lead an assult against Iraqi's to save Santa. They've had a statue of mary pissing blood on people in a supposed "healing miracle" from god. They're mocked Christian "curing gay" camps, Christian bands, sunday school, and the birth of Jesus which they lampooned with evil Christmas Critters trying to birth the son of the devil.

That's just for Christians off the top of my head....

That's not even countering their goes at Athiests, Mormons, Jews (CONSTANTLY), scientologists, and even Islam prior to the past few years. And that's just religions.

Indeed, they had an episode earlier called "The Super Best Friends" which had which simultaneously lampooned in some way Buddhists, Jews, Mormons, Hindu's, Muslims, and Taoism (and Seaman).

Where this all started was an episode known as "cartoon wars" which was a two parter dealing with Censorship, free speech, and intimidation/terrorism (also, Family Guy). The entire first episode was basically setting up the notion that Fox was going to allow Family Guy to show an episode with Mohammed in it so everyone was afraid they were going to get bombed, with Cartman trying to get Fox to censor or pull the episode to keep people "safe" (In reality banking on the fact that once one thing is censored other groups know they too can get things censored and the show would go off the air).

The Second episode starts off with Fox censoring it, the Family Guy Writers (manatees) getting upset that they were censored and refusing to write anymore unless the episode is shown, and thus the struggle with Fox's decision. After a stirring oration about Free Speech from Stan the Fox representitive gives the show the green light just before the skit with Mohammed comes on....which consists of Mohammed and Peter putting on a football helmet with a Salmon attached ot it.

The thing is, while the Fox exec in the show realizes the grave mistake in giving into terrorism and giving into fear and censoring free speech when you've said its okay in every other situation where violence wasn't threatened, Comedy Centrals exec's didn't.

The clip of the cartoon inside the South Park episode that for storyline peices was going to run uncensored for FOX instead got censored by Comedy Central because they wouldn't allow Mohammed to be shown on the screen, making Comedy Central rightfully look like Giant Douches (rather than a turd sandwich).

So fast foward to currently with Episode 200/201, which were basically a episodes focused on harkening back to old episodes. They show the dozens upon dozens of celebrities and famous people and groups that they have slandered over the years all upset about South Park and deciding to sue them. Randy and Stan get Tom Cruise (The lead guy) to agree to not sue them, telling him they'd do "anything".

His request?

He wants to meet mohammed. This of course immedietely gets an "oooooo, um...we can't do that" type response. (Funnily enough, during one scene, one of the boys even essentially acknowledge that they have shown Mohammed before back in Super Best Friends, basically making CC look like idiots. Not surprisingly, NOW they've taken Super Best Friends out of syndication rotation).

Its later revealed they really want to get mohammed to take his powers of being the only person and thing on earth that is unable to be made fun of to make sure they're never made fun of again.

The first episode you never actually see Mohammed, with him being in a Uhaul and then supposedly in a bear suit. They did not censor his name.

After the stupid websites "warning" to the South Park creators CC has censored the very name of "mohammed" from the second show, as well as censoring his actual image, and censoring the entire boys speech at the end talking about fear and intimidation and how it was wrong.

This was of course in between making fun of gingers, having a god snort crack, having a boy pull off a stereotypical rendition of a black person with what was essentially a hand puppet, having barbra striesand as a godzilla like machine with crotch-poison, gay jokes about Tom Cruise who is later killed by being shipped to the moon.

**** Comedy Central, I'm nominating them for biggest douche in the universe those ****ing douches.

Of course they're douches. They're television executives, for God's sake. They're paid alot of money to be douches. They aren't paid to start wars with terrorists.

Wow Zyphlin, you're quite a South Park expert! I'll admit right now, I've never viewed the show. I don't enjoy humor this irreverent.

If you want to live in fear, be my guest.

Don't expect the rest of us to do so.

What they did was give into terrorists and with this they have given power to the terrorists to silence free speech.

The terrorists have truly taken our imaginations hostage.

Who the hell is talking about me? This is about Comedy Central. I don't live in fear because of what they do.

Don't expect the rest of us to do so.

So have you fulfilled my challenge to post a drawing of Mohammad with your name and home address on a prominent website or in a newspaper or something? Don't live in fear.

What they did was give into terrorists and with this they have given power to the terrorists to silence free speech.

The terrorists have truly taken our imaginations hostage.

Thanks for putting the Imagination Land song in my head.

Yes you do. You would not be supporting otherwise.

Yes I did. But I can't tell you where or who because it is a stupid fallacy answer. And against DP rules.

Thanks for putting the Imagination Land song in my head.

Good.

Comedy Central has disappointed me:naughty. So I guess free speech is allowed so long as there isn't a group of mentally immature people making death threats? South Park is funny because they joke about everyone. Why should Islam get a pass? Seriously, if anyone else was doing this they would just ignore them and run with an episode anyway. Shame on you comedy central, you put your viewers last and exalted a bunch of deranged murderess thugs.

That's really dissapointing to read.

Not really. Western institutions have been petrified of the Middle East's self appointed executioner's of God since 9/11. The White House had been petrified of offending Muslims since 1992. How many newspapers have exercised their freedom of speech since Muslims displayed their angers over a cartoon? How much of the media traverses around Middle Eastern social issues once they've carefully and barely touched the stories and moved on? How many politicians have been honest at all about the wreckage between Cairo and Islamabad as they praise the illusion of a healthy region? And FOX isn't special in regards to protecting the feelings of Muslims. Oh and Hollywood? Most terrorist movies are about non-Muslims and those that are accompany it with how America made them through various government policies and relationships via evil conspiracies.

People think I'm exaggerating this reality, but look at it honestly. Any television network concerned about depicting Jesus in an offending way? Do newspapers rush to restrict criticisms about Christianity? How about Judaism? But Islam? Oh no...don't want to offend Muslims. Wouldn't be prudent in our twisted politically correct world. In fact, the last (and only?) movie about Muhammed never even showed the figure on screen to respect the Islamic religion.

But people will rush to accuse the Christian scourge as the real threat don't they? Do Christians burn and murder when South Park puts Jesus on the screen and pokes fun? Do Christians vastly organize into terrororist organizations throughout the West and invest in bombs? Is martyrdom really in any of the Western languages anymore unless they speak of situations within Islam? Do Catholics and Protestants slaughter each other? But Muslims in the 21st century do do these things don't they? And for that acknowledgement, Muhammad is sacred even to those who laugh and scoff at religion (just as long as its Christianity or Judaism - you know the true threat).

It's cowardice. And it's a joke. People talk about how non-threatening to the great powers a few "rogues" of Islam are as they point to GITMO as being the object of how the terrorist won. GITMO is a temporary military installation as all are during times of war. Look at the unspoken alterations to our freedoms by those civilians who surrender it freely in our institutions to see how "the terrorist won." This South Park episode simply happens to be the latest example of how quickly our institutions are to surrendering chinks of our way of life to satisfy a failing civilization's rage. Look at the Dutch. They can't take a single step in any direction without civil unrest and social disruption.

I am guessing CC is feeling the heat about this and the right thing to do would be them never do anything like this again. I mean it is South Park for frig sake. :(

I agree, honestly the president shouldn't touch on this unless it truly becomes a national issue. Obama doesn't need to get involved, and neither do politicians in my opinion.

Q1. yes

Q2. no

south park can make an episdode about whomever they like, and comedy central shouldn't censor it, if people will be offended by it, they shouldn't watch it.

I sense that a group of muslim employees got together and threatend a lawsuit if the episode was aired.

There worse things than just showing an image of a prophet.

Two Questions:

Q1. Should Comedy Central have allowed a cartoon depiction of Mohammad to be aired on South Park?

Q2. Should Comedy Central have bleeped the name "Mohammad" throughout the episode, and then bleep over a minute of dialogue? (this is what they did)

State your reason.

Following the airing of the 201st episode, the creators of South Park released this message:

"In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it."

I like that South Park offends as many people as possible.
No one should get to comfortable with their believes.

They need to be shaken sometimes.

Lets take a look who these radical muslim goons are that threatened Comedy Central shall we. As you might have catched in the news the group calls themselves “Revolution Muslim”. The guy that started the Revolution Muslim website is Yousef al-Khattab. Sounds pretty middle eastern, but the guy is infact a jewish guy, born in Brooklyn NY called Joseph Cohen.

Joseph went to an orthodox rabbinical school in Israel, lived as a settler in the occupied territories and coverted to islam after meeting some guy in a chat room.

The guy who made the threats regarding the Southpark episode on the Revolution Muslim website was Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee or Zachary Adam Chesser. Born and raised in the states. Played football and was on the crew team at one of the best high schools in the country. Just two years ago he was studying foreign languages at George Mason University.

If you ask me, we've been conned by a bunch of pseudo wannabee terrorists who like seeing muslims and islam getting smeared and hated. And they're doing a great job at that.

Southpark rulez :>

Q1 yes
Q2 yes

Southpark has fully displayed muhammed in earlier episodes without any response from the muslim world. He was even seen in the Southpark intro for 3 seasons.
