Many would do it. But we can't, not because of Muslims, but because of Internet stalkers, identity theft or nut cases possibly like your self.

Oh, so Comedy Central are cowards for being afraid of terrorists, but you're not a coward for being afraid of stalkers and nut cases. Okay.

… I still find it funny that everyone is bashing the network when most of the censorship was self-censorship. Nobody's calling the creators cowards for not showing Muhammed in the first place (knowing it would be censored by the network anyway, of course).

I don't agree. Trey and Matt had the courage to create a totally avoidable fight not only with Muslim extremists (who are irrational and capable of anything) but also their own network management (who are irrational and capable of anything).

It would have been easy for them to create a self congratulatory 200th anniversary episode that stroked their own egos, but, they instead stuck it in the eye (again!) of every celebrity they ever insulted, every Muslim extremist they ever provoked, every network executive they ever angered and every soul-less ginger kid they ever humiliated. It was another South Park achievement and reminds us why they reached episode 200 in the first place.

Well, yes, they managed to do all that - while still completely avoiding actually showing Muhammed.

Yes, that's exactly what it was. Of course it was.

You are completley wrong.

Did you see him on Comedy Central though? Or was he censored?

Yes he is even seen in reruns on other networks. :doh

No, they cleverly turned self-censorship into a show with a point. You didn't catch that?

No. The evidence I posted above and their own statement to the press flies in the face of your comments. I tell you what.

I will take Matt & Trey's word over yours.

I dare you to post a drawing of Mohammed, clearly labeled as such, with your name and home address here, tough guy.

You are aware that the creators of SouthPark made a depiction of Mohamed in other episodes of south park and practically the whole world knows who they are. My anonymity has nothing to do with terrorist scum. So why do you think we should cave to terrorist? Were you the kid in school who gave the school bully your lunch money and did his homework just so he won't beat you up?

Is he? Betcha the other networks have no idea what they're doing, and neither do the Muslims.

But tell me, if CC censored this bear suit episode even the way it was, do you really believe they wouldn't have if they showed Muhammed - in a show that was all about showing him? When some dooshbag Muslims are threatening even when they didn't actually show him?

P.S. As I remembered, the first show with Mohammed was ALSO censored by CC. So they knew they couldn't get Mohammed on another show.

That's kinda unfair, seeing that the only reason for the censoring of the episode was them not wishing to come under fire.

It most certainly is NOT unfair. If they are going to cave in to threats, and censor artistic expression as a side effect, then they are simply going to have two camps pissed off at them: A bunch of wackos on one side and their customers on the other side. Their customers are simply going to have be forceful enough to get listened to.

It is CCs choice to get involved in a business where every once in a long long while, their customers are going to demand that they nod, ever so slightly, to the notion of a robust marketplace of ideas. They are not being treated 'unfairly'.

Yes, so they have to balance the risk of getting into a gigantic holy war with a bunch of terrorists vs. denying their viewers the right to see an image of Mohammed in a 22-minute cartoon.

Tough choice.

No we are not. That is nothing but a fallacy argument.

Do you honestly think any Muslim would all of a sudden attack a poster on a message board???

My god man, it's common sense.

AND AGAINST THE DP RULES.

I still want them to have to make it. Caving in needs to have consequences, whether in the end they decide on balance to do so anyway.

Bull****...

The episode was not pulled or changed until yesterday by you guessed it, CC. Had notthing to do with the creators of SP.

They did not show him because the whole episode was about people wanting his power of not being able to be made fun of.

Have you even watched?

P.S. As I remembered, the first show with Mohammed was ALSO censored by CC. So they knew they couldn't get Mohammed on another show.

?South Park? takes on own network over ban - TV comedy- msnbc.com

Completely different episode. The super best friends was in 2004, not 2006. That was a completely different episode. The Super Best Friends Episode was not pulled until yesterday.

I'm coming to get you, Black Dog!

I think it is a small percentage of whackos who would actually kill somebody for portraying Muhammad, but I do believe the community in large would be a bit disgusted with Muhammad being portrayed.

Oh well. If it can be done to Jesus, Moses, Joseph Smith, Buddha, Ganesh, or anyone else, then it can be done to Mohammad. We have a right to free speech despite what a bunch of child rapist followers think.

The only thing that shocks me in this thread is people hating on South Park....good gods, the show is greatness! It's a cultural classic, like a demented, more risk-taking version of Seinfield.

That said, Comedy Central is a business, it's their call.

Well they have taken their shots at christians, jews, scientologists, transgenders, homosexuals, red heads, red necks, atheists, the gilgamesh etc....

Why should the muslim community be insulated from comedic pot shots? Besides, there was no fuss when years ago, there was a depiction of Mohammed on South Park, but now they can't?

They didn't have the arabic translation?

IDK

That said, Comedy Central is a business, it's their call.

Just as it is our call as (potential or existing) customers to criticize them for it on the basis of freedom of expression.

Personally, I don't want to be a customer of a network that caves in to threats. I don't think anyone else should want to be either. Again, that is our prerogative.

I'm assuming you actually have evidence that Prophet Mohammed is a rapist? Would you care to show it to the rest of us.

He got him mixed up with the Catholics.

He got him mixed up with the Catholics.

I thought that too.

The difference between catholic priests being kiddy fiddlers and my Prophet being a rapist is that one is accurate and the other is not.

One word: Aisha.

Yes, because the age of consent and marriage was exactly the same in Arabia in the 7th century as it is today in the U.S.

Marriage was often a way to help widows and orphaned girls, more like adoption. That's why they had polygamy too. You don't even know if they had sex.

Nice Nowism.

One word: Aisha.

Yeah ... that is not evidence.

Do you have witnesses? Perhaps a statement that she is raped? Hell, you can even go through the Qu'ran to try and find where he raped her. Marriage is not rape, however much you attempt to make it swing the other way.
