Can you have your own private Idaho?

Just ask for a Duncan Idaho ghola to be made for you...

Seriously, I am U.S.-born and have lived in Taiwan for nearly eight years. I love it here... taxes are relatively low and though English language level here isn't particularly good, the locals are very friendly to Westerners... especially Americans...

If Obamanomics really did a number on our nation and you had to flee, where would you want to go?

Please discuss your reasons for your choice.

This poll is multiple choice. If you like, you may choose more than one.

How interesting! Is this a conservative American thing, or have you not heard of the major European nations, such as France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, or even your own mother country, Great Britain? While they may not loom as large in American eyes as such geopolitical giants as Belize and Costa Rica, they have had some slight influence upon the societies in which we live.

I was thinking Texas, maybe.

Moscow, Stockholm, and Switzerland are intriguing to me.

We didn't flee the USA, but when we did decide to move, we moved to New Zealand. One of the greatest decisions of my life. :2razz:

I'd probably go to Australia. I enjoyed it while I was there.

It's possible I may even happen to cross paths with some children that share eerily familiar features to my own.

An alternate universe version of America...

I wonder why more Mexicans don't go to Canada.

Can I change my vote? I don't want to flee to the same country as spudmeister.

Simply put, Canada is further away...

so i take it you like mutton?

I've never had it, I've never been offered it, I've never seen it in a cafe'

These Kiwis certainly eat like crap though, overall. They are ranked 7th in the world in obesity, and that is up from a few years ago and it looks like they aren't slowing down either. I think that I read that New Zealand has the worlds fastest growing obesity rate. There is great food to be had, but for instance, in the only food court in our area, there is a great Curry cafe, a really good Sushi, another healthy sandwich coffe cafe and MacDonalds... MacDonalds lines head around the corner and I can just walk up to any of the others and be first in line. Crazy Fat Kiwis...

I have no reason to flee this country. Obama and Omega Psi Phi rule!

Well, I suppose Marseille, France.

My wife is from there.

Maybe Bad Windsheim, Germany, my company forward quarters.

Let me smoke one on this.

*winks*

It depends on why I would be leaving. If I were leaving to get away from a war... I would move to Australia. It's one of the safest places on earth (historically).

If I wanted to get away from the oppression of social conservatism, I'd definitely go to either Canada or Netherlands. I've been to the Netherlands once... It's a nice place imo.

Any suggestions for people who want to get away from fiscal liberalism?

What an overly dramatic question. There are social welfare states all over the European Union, and we dont feel a need to flee.

Do you have a residence permit and work permit for all the countries on your list? Fleeing can be complicated.

Just rush in illegally, and then demand Amnesty...... if you want our vote.

I voted Canada, Australia, Switzerland, and other (my other being Japan). Japan would be my first choice, then it would be a tie between Australia/Canada, Switzerland would be a last resort (I'd rather not have to live in Europe.)
