I'll join, I'm only about $250-300K in debt.

Scotland - hot chicks ... really? I mean, more so than other country's? Must be the highland air.

New Zealand of course. I love this place, and I have already emigrated once.

But if I had to flee New Zealand, for instance if a labour government destroyed the country, then Australia would be my first choice. Then I would pick US, but it's really hard to become a US citizen so I would try Canada instead.

It's not hard to become a citizen if you are Mexican

Actually, my wife and I are making plans to move to Lake Chapala in Mexico when we retire, but it has nothing to do with fleeing America. Only someone who hates his country would see it that way. We plan to keep our American citizenship, because we DO love our country, and it doesn't matter if Bush, or Obama, or even the man in the moon is president (As long as that man in the moon isn't Jerry Brown ). Where we are moving, the cost of living is decent, and it is a resort community. My wife and I will spend the remaining years of our lives in a relaxed environment, without a care in the world. Nothing wrong with that, after you have spent an entire lifetime working your ass off. And we have nothing to feel guilty about either. We didn't make our retirement possible by ripping off old ladies or by becoming bankers (which is pretty much the same thing). We did it all ethically, legally, and morally. We feel great about our lives, and we will have absolutely nothing to feel guilty about when we retire. We did it right, and in a few short years, will reap the rewards for how we lived our lives.

We will both continue to vote, and we will still be very much interested in what goes on in the good ole' USA, because no matter where in the world we end up, we are Americans first and foremost. Let others be afraid of or even hate America. I have always loved America, I always will, and I can say that without the slightest semblance of remorse. So here I am, standing up and being counted, and when we get to Mexico, we will continue to stand tall and proud. No fleeing for me, thank you.

A self-professed libertarian touting the virtues of a communist country, calling it the "easiest place to go".... my head is spinning.
Context is everything.

I'm living in Japan now. Wife and kids have Japanese citizenship. The kids have both Japanese and American citizenships. I stayed here after my military service was up. I had nothing to go home to so. I like it.

If I had the capital saved up I'd live in Thailand or the Philippines esspecially if I were single.

To answer the question, If I ever had to flee, it would probably be to Japan since I have family here.
