lets see what people think (no debating here please, if you want to debate, there's a forum for it)

How the hell to expect to stop people from debating?

And besides, it's a debate forum...

And these polls are unscientific, so they won't give you any usefull data.

In this context (that of a debate forum) They are intended for use to prompt debate. At least IMO.

hmmm guess you're right, I'll edit part of my post then

You should be aware that since you made this an anonymous poll, the potential exists for people to cheat, ie they can log out and vote as many times as they want to.

ahh, i made it anonymous so people wouldn't have to worry about who sees what they voted for

maybe someone can just delete this thread?

I'm both pro-life and pro-choice.

Against abortions but against forcing people to agree with me.

I am pro abortion rights. I hate the terms "pro-life" and "pro-choice".

I am anti-abortion/pro-life. I believe it is wrong to take an innocent human life for frivolous reasons.I believe those who seek to get abortions should be treated no different than those who try to hire someone for murder and believe those tho perform abortions should be treated no different than any other serial killer or serial murderer/mass murderer.

So I do not believe in the notion that you can be morally opposed to abortion for the same reasons many pro-lifers are opposed to abortion and be pro-choice at the same time. Its like saying you are against child molestation but do not think it should be illegal or against rape but think it should be illegal when you say some bull **** like I'm pro-life but I am also pro-choice.

I am against abortion except when the mother's life is in danger.

I don't know what I am. I see merit to both sides of the debate and find it difficult to choose. However, I doubt my wife and I will ever truly need to worry about it since all of our kids were planned and now her tubes are tied.

In the mean time, I will play devil's advocate on the issue.

I can certainly agree with you that abortion is essentially taking the life of a potential child, but you have to understand that some people don't see it that way. If they believed they were murdering a child they would likely have the same views as you.

It all comes down to when you believe life "starts".

I'm sure there are some people who don't even think about this though. They simply don't want to be pregnant anymore...

Pro-life, with the exception of rape or incest, or of course threat to the life of the mother. I think the terms pro-life and pro-choice are the proper ones, since they are the self chosen terms for their respective movements. I believe it's correct to call people what they prefer to be called.

I was Pro-Life up until about a year ago. Mainly on religious grounds.

After I found out the ancient Israelites did not consider it a human until after the first three months, and did not have a soul until breaking out of the womb. I figured they know more about the nature of God than I do.

I still don't support it as a form of birth control or late term abortion etc.

Exactly! This is a major reason why I am having trouble with the religious aspect of being pro-life.

Absolutely!
And this "forcing" has been the bane of man's existence for 6,000 years.

Those options arent a stance...Im PRO life...and anti ending the abortion laws.

I'll never base my thinking on the activities or thoughts of those from antiquity. Nor do I think that they are any closer to God or know more of God's nature than I do(which is 0.0 or zero).

I agree. The ancient peoples also thought epilepsy was demon possession.

I figure those who talked directly to God, know more than me. I will default to the Bible and those who wrote it.

Just saying.

Anyway, this thread is not about why or why not I believe in God etc. So lets not go off topic.

So what? Can we please get back on topic and not play the lets attack the Christian game?

Why shouldn't we get off topic? It's fun! :2razz:

I'm not sure there is anyone who is in favor of abortions; that is, no one thinks they are a good thing. Those of us who are usually called "pro-choice" use that term because being "pro-choice" is not the same as "pro-abortion."

I wasn't attacking Christians, I was pointing out a fact. I'm personally not a Fundamentalist, but think the Bible should be viewed and interpreted within historical context.

I take that back, the epilepsy thing is indeed a fact, It has no bearing on anything said. Lots of people in the past have made mistakes. This does not make everything they said wrong.

Now if we can get back on topic?
