Is the New Tanning Tax Racist?

Is The New Tanning Tax Racist?

It's not a luxury tax. It's a, "we wanna control your lifestyle because we're going to pick up the tab", tax. If the government is worried that a person's lifestyle will cost them more money in medical care expenses, then let's not work towards single payer healthcare. But, we know it ain't about that. Don't we? It's about, "if we can get away with this, we can get away with the other **** we wanna do".

Your freedom is being taken away from you, while you sit back and try to look like a cool non-partisan. I'll see ya in the camp. Maybe we can get assigned to the same barracks and go on the same work details and talk more about it.

If you say so....:spin:
This stuff that you claim "freedoms being taken away"....makes no sense.
Exactly, what freedoms?

Not racist, but an example of the "soft facism" of the nanny state.

Where do you draw the line, though? Is it the government's business to "punish" us for how we chose to live in these United States? Will people who live near the beach get a special tax on top of already high property taxes? They get sunburned, too. The smart ones know when to "come out of the rain" and excessive sun, the stupid ones do not.
That they pay more tax than I....too damned bad...

The line will be erased when people smarten up and do what is good for themselves , rather than living a gluttonous, stupid, sloppy, wasteful life ...which I kind of like, a little...:rofl..

The line is drawn by our elected officials within the confines of the constitution, like it or not. Voice your opinion to your representatives, vote for those you agree with most on, or run for office... that's the best we can do as citizens.

The punishment for getting sunburned on the beach is the sunburn itself. Tanning beds make it easier and more convenient to avoid the sunburn while taking in a high amount of harmful UV rays.

Hopefully people would be intelligent enough to realize that too much sun is bad. Unfortunately those with leather skin from tanning didn't learn the harms of UV rays and have a higher chance of getting skin cancer. And if they don't want to pay higher health care costs, they need to pay some other way to pay their fair share.

This is why I am in favor of cigarette taxes, even though I smoke. Unfortunately for me I will have to pay the higher taxes AND see my health care costs increase unless I quit. Now is that fair? I think so. I will do my part to lessen the burden on the health care system that I cause, and I'd hope others would feel the same way. Why should people have to pay higher premiums just because other people smoke cigarettes?

I basically hate any tax on any service since we are taxed enough on items wepurchase and real estatate and automobile ownership tx. Yest the question of it being racist is that it's about as discriminatory as a product which would be used for let's say skin lighteer or hair un-kinkener.

Tanning is a frivolous and useless thing. If people want it, cool but the tax is nothing more than the same type of tax on motorcycles or cigarettes in every state for example.

This is irrelevant to my statement, or the one you made about this tax being racist.

Nothing but silly hyperbole.

This has again nothing to do with your comments or my response to them.

Tell you what.... how about we tax ethnic products. They are used to make people feel better about the way they look just like tanning. Put a tax on makeup? Isn't it all a luxury and not a need, hair spray, nail polish, deoderant..... We could also tax those that work outside for a living as that is not good for you too. Then we could tax those that never see the sunlight as well.

I think we as Americans pay enough in taxes. We as americans should all just sit down and look at the big picture. All of these taxes are wrong. This is what our forefathers fought against. Boston tea party ring a bell???? If we could just get past our petty differences, people in this country could see that the problems that matter are the people at the top. I say fire them all and show them we are the boss and they work for us..

It is a "luxury" tax, not a "race" tax. This is a fact. So your statement is irrelevant to my own.

Better yet what does it have to so with my statement to someone else?

All of the taxes are not wrong. Even the founding fathers figured that one out in Short order.

This is what our forefathers fought against. Boston tea party ring a bell????

Ummm, no. They did not fight against taxation. They fought against taxation without representation. HUGE difference. We are represented (even if shabbily) by the house and senate who we vote for.

If we could just get past our petty differences, people in this country could see that the problems that matter are the people at the top. I say fire them all and show them we are the boss and they work for us..

I agree for the most part, but again this has little to do with my statements.
