Which web browser do you typically use and why, if you have a reason?

Firefox, 'cause i have all these useful add-ons and stuff, and i dont want to have to go to the effort of trying to see if they're on another browser.

Firefox.

I don't see a sane reason to use anything else.

Firefox, Chrome, Safari.

Firefox: OS X

Chrome: Windows 7, Sometimes OS X

Safari: OS X

I am lately finding myself dissatisfied with Firefox, but I am not certain if Chrome (on OS X, mind you) suffers from the same memory leak hell I go through with Firefox. Today, after leaving 3 windows with about, 30 tabs on for a day or so (most of which was text for research), I discovered to my amazement that it was taking a whopping 1+ GB of ram.

I agree. My favorite add-ons are:
NoScript to block any unwanted downloads
AniWeather because it's one of the best weather checkers I've found
Download Statusbar for easy downloading
Googlepedia for quick references to Wikipedia when using Google (check it out. Very handy)
Stumble Upon because it's amazing (IE users should try it too)
FastestFox... it's a little glitchy but it's still useful for looking up words I do not know the meaning of

I also love how Firefox checks your spelling. Not sure if the other browsers do that too?

Combined they make web browsing a breeze :)

You're right! I just checked mine, and with 9 windows with... hell I must have 50 tabs up (also used for research) I'm using 1.13GB of ram. Wow I never noticed that. :doh Well I'm off to close some!

I use the newest version of Internet Explorer. I always hear people talk about how Firefox is so much better but I have yet to find anything that it does that the current version of Internet Explorer doesn't do. Granted, I'm aware it stole most of its current features from Firefox.

I use Chrome.

It's much faster than Firefox and it's as simple as you could ever ask for. The spellchecker needs a little work and sometimes websites dont recognize it (which is rare), but it's a great browser.

I used IE when I was young and naive and didn't care.

I migrated to Firefox when I heard about how great it was. Barely any pop-ups, faster, and therefore relatively safer

I recently switched to Google Chrome. It is much cleaner than IE and Firefox, and it seems like its very "to the point," as if its giving you the bare minimums, and thats really what makes it better. The first time I saw it, the first thing I thought was "my, this is very clean, its a very clean browser."

- no top bar explaining what you are looking at
- literally only 7 buttons on the top (excluding the close/minimize/maximize)
- no bottom bar showing the web address of where you are or what's loading all the time
- provides the MOST possible screen space compared to IE and Firefox
- has a cool name ...

I use firefox.

I can't stand IE, because it's slower than crap, and buggy as hell.

I tried Chrome, and it was alright, but I'm familiar with firefox and saw no real reason to switch.

I was a faithful Firefox user until Chrome came out.

The only issues I had with Firefox is that it was a hog - Chrome is streamlined, non-cluttered, quick and I absolutely love it. :)

I've tried Opera and wasn't that impressed after multiple page freezes and sporadic shut downs... it was like a mini- IE.

I use firefox, the reason is add ons. Ad block plus, image zoom, video download helper and a build in spell checker. On my old computer it was because firefox worked faster than IE.

Chrome. Use to be a big firefox fan, but after Chrome came out that changed. Chrome is so much faster than all other browsers (I dont count Safari or Opera as browsers!!!), plus with the new add-on possibilities then there is no real reason to go back to firefox even though they fixed the speed issue in the new 3.6 release.

My only grip with Chrome is Adobe Flash/Shockwave. Chrome is not 100% supported by Adobe yet and that does give problems if you dont have the latest releases of said plug-ins. The only issue I have now is once in a while if I have a lot of flash running, then the cursor poofs when the mouse is not being moved. Hope they fix it soon but considering Adobe never admits anything wrong with their products then well.. But that is why some bright mind has created an IE plugin which means you can run an IE window in Chrome when you need too.

Switched from Firefox to Chrome. It's faster, uses less resources, and has a larger screen area. I added a theme skin, but I plan on keeping it lean and fast.

I voted FF because I had to choose one, but at work I use FF, IE and Opera all at the same time.

I need to be able to log into the same server under multiple IDs.

Firefox. I love the add-ons, but it is definitely a resource hog.

I can't imagine doing without the privacy add-ons.

I switch between Safari/Firefox on my Mac - I use Firefox on my other computers.

Firefox does absolutely everything I need it to do. So long as it continues to do so, I see no reason to change to anything else.

I use Chrome on my family's desktop, but I mainly use Safari on my Macbook.

I've used them all to try them out. To me the easiest one is FF and is the one I use primarily. Chrome is horrible and IE is ok. Opera I didn't use long enough to judge but it was OK and Safari is good. I would say that they all take you to the same internet so its whatever you prefer! LOL
