I've always used FireFox. It's great and hasn't let me down so far.

Sorry, no offense or anything, but that always strikes me as funny, people who have been online for such a short amount of time. I remember when there was no Firefox. I used Netscape until AOL ruined it. Before that, I used IE because there was no choice but hated it. Before that, there was no web so I didn't use anything, I used a command line. And before that, there was no Internet so I used dial-up BBSes.

Wow, it's been a long, wild ride.

For some bizzare reason IE.

When one thinks of it, the UI of these browsers has changed dramatically over the past 15 years, hasn't it? I suppose the even bigger surprise is the design of websites. Do you remember when everyone was convinced that an entirely-designed flash website was the way to navigate the web rather than a simple HTML design mostly composed of text and a few low-quality pictures? That was only several years ago, and I haven't seen many websites that use that technique anymore.

Yikes. I remember this as well... !!

Lol I love how out of 50 people no one uses Opera. Has anyone tried it? I had never even heard of it a month ago.

I was never very interested in going too the Opera. All that singing doesn't appeal to me much.

Switched from Firefox to Chrome. It's faster, uses less resources, and has a larger screen area. I added a theme skin, but I plan on keeping it lean and fast.

Tashah,

how do you theme Chrome?

I've used IE, Safari, FF, and Suns old browser on Solaris Motif, and now Chrome.

Chrome hands down has them all beat. It is simple, elegant and exposed. No other browser has developer tools, which allows you to navigate the HTML/XML tree - good for developing. It is very fast and simple Options to configure. It never crashes of hiccups. I guess it has a large footprint, but memory is cheap. I am running one browser with 8 tabs and it is 95 MB.

I highly recommend everyone get it.

I rarely saw the temporary benefit of Opera for my browser usage. I have tried it several times of the past several years, but each time I was dissuaded from using it.

I have tried using Chrome a few times but I just don't like how the UI is laid out. Plus every time I try it, there is no easy to add an adblock type extension which makes the web much less attractive and usable.

Also, none of my computers have less than 2gb of ram anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

I hear you.

When I started, it was Compuserve's internal network on a 2400 bps "super" modem. After that I used to "borrow" access on a local university's dial-in Telnet line.

Those were the days.

I for one hated the AOL browser. We never had AOL (used Netscape) but when I went over to friend's houses who had AOL it drove me crazy how you had to run the program to get onto the internet. And all the browser pages had to be opened in the main browser. Not very convenient for a internet user like myself.

Firefox at home and CL's. IE if I'm at my old house because my ex has it on his main computer.

Update to version 4+.. it has extensions like firefox.. including adblock and all the others.

Opera has been around for donkey ages..

It is a good browser, and the fastest out there. Problem with Opera is that it has never been promoted much and hence its usage is limited to nerds in Europe pretty much. But compared to IE and Safari, Opera is much better and safer.
