LEO's who comply with such a law or confiscation order are just as culpable as the people who made said law or confiscation order.

If it were in a court of law, they would be called accomplices.
I think the government would be hard pressed to find LEO's to carry out any such orders. They know what a bloodbath that would end up being. It wouldn't be if a particular cop would be shot dead, but when.

I would just like to note that 6 months ago this thread would have almost immediately been thrown into 'conspiracy theories'.... now it's quickly turning into a 10 page+ discussion.

What's changed?

It's just a hypothetical discussion. No one is suggesting it is likely to occur. Obama knows better than to come after people's guns, I'll give him that.

The OP didn't start off by stating that "The Feds are coming and they want your firearms!"... it's strictly a hypothetical.

Because the OP would have started off with some ridiculous bull**** from Alex Jones about FEMA camps and whatnot.

This is a hypothetical thread, where that would be an "in need of lithium" thread.

..... A Democrat is in power so the right needs a stick for the next elections.

What part of "hypothetical" don't you understand?

Nothing has changed and no it would not have been.

It has nothing to do with Obama, or anything in reality. It is a completely fictitious hypothetical, that's it.

It is also making for good discussion as it would have 6 months ago.

I have no worries of this happening. I have documented Police reports, of all my firearms being stolen years a go. I have no firearms for anyone to take.

Hypothetical in political discussions is just ***** talk for not being able to say what you really want to because people might think you're crazy.

Example,

the right says that hypothetically the health bill could have been used to fund abortions. Never you mind that there are a myriad of laws that forbid the use of federal funds towards abortion.

Another example,

left wing truthers who don't want to be recognized as such say that it is hypothetically possible that the government flew missiles into the Pentagon. Never you mind the amount of information that shows the opposite.

See what 'hypothetical' really means? I think the fact that at every election we hear about the big bad government coming to take away your guns from the NRA simply confirms just how 'hypothetical' this scenario is in the mind of gun owners. Case and point:

In this case I do not think that was intended at all. The thread has all the seriousness of a zombie apocalypse thread.

Ummm you were the only one to bring up this kind of silliness in the thread?

I agree. It is a joke of a thread. But to some people it is far more plausible that a government could come and take away guns than for a government to have the support of its military to establish an autocracy or a junta etc.

Showing you how 'hypothetical' it is in the mind of a large percentage of gun owners.

No, this is what hypothetical really means:
Main Entry: hy·po·thet·i·cal
Pronunciation: \ˌhī-pə-ˈthe-ti-kəl\
Function: adjective
Date: 1588

: being or involving a hypothesis : conjectural <hypothetical arguments> <a hypothetical situation>

hypothetical noun

hy·po·thet·i·cal·ly \-ti-k(ə-)lē\ adverb
Your rant is a weak, delusional effort to build a straw man and a pretty lame attempt at trolling.

Dismissed.

Don't think I haven't been expecting your knock. the door, you will find, is unlocked, and usually wide open. Drop on by. I got a few chores I could use a hand with, so you can earn the money I spend providing you with a pay check.

That is just scary. :wassat1:

Thanks for clarifying on the distinction.

This sounds like the beginning of a partisan rant.

There have been a myriad of people posting to this hypothetical discussion and I can't say that I've seen anyone mention right or left.

Until you posted. :?

Moderator's Warning:
OK, now some consequences have been issued. Next one to bait with partisan idiocy, or to make a personal attack is off the thread. At the least.
