I saw a slouching looking young man the other day at the supermarket. He had, in addition to the lip stud and tatoos, those earrings that make huge holes in ones earlobes.

What do you think when you see someone so attired. How does someone like that expect to advance their career? I speculated that perhaps he is a tatoo artist?

Not everyone aims for business class, or is bound by petty social conventions.

I work with a few guys that do that, it's not my cup of tea but to each their own.

'whatever floats your boat'

One of the artists at my company has those. It doesn't seem to have hurt his career any.

I've got a few visible tattoos and gauged ears, although mine are not an inch big. I don't think anything of it. I've given up on trying to label individuals based off of their appearance alone.

I think of National Geographic.

I think I understand the global shortage of chicken bones a little better.

Does it actually have some meaning or historical context, or is it just the latest piercing fad?

I mean, with normal small piercings you can always let the holes grow back in if you change your mind...those guage things, I don't think so.

Gauges will only do irreparable damage if you gauge them past a "0" gauge.

Really? I manage a Starbucks and I have tattoos and gauged ears.

What made you chose this style of ornamentation?

When it comes to tattoos, I find them to be a unique style of expression. I have a lot quotes that I live my life by tattooed on my person.

As for the gauges, I just like them. Not much else to it. :2razz:

I am tattooed and pierced. Among my piercings I have a lowbret. Not as noticeable as a gauged ears but if you stare at my face long enough you'll see it. None of my tattoos or piercings have ever hurt my professional life.

In case you don't know what a lowbret is :

That one is freshly done. When it heals you replace it with a smaller bar.

Personally, I think he's a douche bag for rebelling against society in such a conformist manner.

"I'm going to make a really cool statement about how awesome I am... in the same way that thousands of other cool guys like me have already done!"

Morons.

I think, "hmm, that guy has 1 inch holes in his ears." That's it, nothing more, no judgements etc. If I am having a conversation with him, I keep having to think, "don't stare, don't stare."

Makes a great "handle" if you want him to come with you for some reason.

Should have been a multi selection poll.

That he might be a good person to score some drugs from.I pick the following four

That he is probably a regular drug user
He is most likely a client of Mental Health
How in the world does he support himself?
That he'll probably be offended if he catches me staring at him.

And I would also add maybe tattoo(like you suggested) or piercing specialist or works at a music store or a Hot Topic store.

That he is going to have some expensive reconstructive surgery in his future. Those holes, that large, can become problematic in later life, or so I am told by a friend of mine who is a surgeon.

I just think, "Idiot."

But that wasn't in the choices given.

It just goes to show that skin stretches. So don't stretch your skin or you'll get wrinkles. Never touch your face with fingers. Use a soft brush. . Never rub your eyes.. Keep your face moist and don't use soap on your face.

What I think is, "That must have hurt."
