Careful now, depending on what type of bipolar you got, you might put yourself into a psychosis, which is never fun.

Been there, done that. But it wasn't due to smoking pot.

All of the above. They're just people, just like any other people. Some people choose to use a drug like coffee. Some choose a drug like alcohol. Some choose MJ. Some choose other ****. They all run in all shapes and sizes, religions, intelligence levels, professions, family structures, backgrounds, etc, etc.

So, all of the above.

It's not meant to have positive long term returns. It's meant to be used as either a coping mechanism or for medicinal purposes. People smoke marijuana for the activation of pleasure centers in the brain, which can help people de-stress after a long day of working the rat race. People are expected to do more work in less time to earn fewer dollars. Without a way to cope with that stress, it's no wonder people smoke out every once in a while. There are also valid medicinal purposes to marijuana. So while there is no long term positives to marijuana, it isn't used in that way.

I understand but really it's a waste just like cigarettes.

Cigarettes help me focus but it isn't really worth it in the long run.

All of the above.:rofl
Twenty to forty years ago, I'd say "stupid beyond belief".
Today , its NOT in front of me, NOT in my house.
Otherwise, its your lungs - you can smoke shyt for all I care, as long as its taxed...grow your own and escape the tax....when the old and stupid die off.
I love giving a response before reading any of a thread, and then reading that thread the next day..

I selected every answer because when I was younger and smoked, I met people who fit all those categories who were also smokers. "Human beings smoke pot" = "All kinds of human beings smoke pot".

Im just saying smoking dope wont make you go bipolar, but a bipolar person smoking pot can go into a relapse or a psychotic state for a few hrs.

I know people who smoke it and they aren't any different from someone who likes to drink. I think it is, as in everything, a question of moderation.

I beg to differ. Smoking pot helped me tremendously in college where I pursued a degree in Physics. Smoking pot helped me visualize a lot of Physics like thermo, modern, quantum, nuclear, mechanics, ... Back then I was smoking 2-3 times a day and would always to my physics studying high. I used to head home after class and get high then go back to the lab at 11 pm and study til 3 am. I even got high before taking exams and those were no easy exams. You know you are in big ****ing trouble when the exam is a take home, open book, open notes, internet allowed, 8 hour exam! It was killer! I had a 3.3 GPA.

It also helped me in English, Chemistry and Mathematics.

I'm not saying it isn't beneficial to some. I actually post a lot after I've smoked, and many times I'm able to articulate myself a little better than normal, but the actual act of smoking marijuana isn't what caused me to become more articulate; that was reading tons of books, the marijuana simply brings out a creative aspect of my intellect. As for math and science, I cannot do it after I've smoked; I have to have a clear mind.

I consider pot use the same as tobacco use or excessive alcohol use: stupid. If you need to smoke, snort, imbibe or inject some substance to feel good about yourself, you've got some serious problems.

don't forget about eating cheeseburgers.lol

i knew it.... know wonder I got A's.lol

Yes, I'd include people who feel a need to overeat to feel better about themselves as well. There's something wrong with them.

How does smoking pot make someone feel good about who they are? I smoke pot on a nightly basis, and it's not at all for a self-esteem boost.

I definitely needed to read to gain background material. But it is like you say the marijuana brings out a creative aspect that allows me to synthesize what I have read.

Science and math can be completely holistic and creative. As soon as you get past the mechanistic details of what to do with an equation and look at what that equation is saying qualitatively - how does it describe nature - then you can really explore the implications while high.

Schroedinger's wave equation of a particle in three dimensions was always a favorite of mine, defining a relationship of the time-dependent change of the wave function with the spacially-dependent change of the wave function as expressed by a Hamiltonian operator relating kinetic and potential energies.

pot smokers are smarter

Pot certainly makes them think so. One of the side effects is thinking your thoughts are very profound and that your guitar playing is rock-star quality.

Voted: Not my concern.

Personally, I smoked pot way back when (more than 20 years ago). Tried it once in my adult life and didn't like the feeling it gave me, so just never did it again.

I could care less what others do, it doesn't affect me. Their body, their choice.

*crosses eyes*

I think I might understand some stuff partially around the edges of that...

Exactly. I was self-medicating my bipolar disorder.

There are far better ways to medicate Bipolar Disorder, without the long-term negative effects.

:) I don't really remember all that I used to about it either, but you can break it down.

The term on the left (i*h-bar*del/del-t) Psi (r, t) is the component of time change of the wave function. The (i*h-bar*del/del-t) part is a differential operator.

The first term on the right (-(h-bar^2/2*m)Laplacian) Psi (r, t) is the kinetic energy of the wave function. The (-(h-bar^2/2*m)Laplacian) is the differential operator.

The second term on the right (V(r)) Psi (r, t) is the potential energy of the wave function. This may or may not have a differential operator inside of V(r).

Normally energy is conserved, so the first and second terms on the right would balance. However, in a quantum mechanical system, you can borrow energy from the universe for brief periods of time (as governed by Heisenberg's uncertainty principle) so the time-dependent part of the wave equation covers this.

There are other insights between the time dependent part and the spacial dependent part, but after 15 years I have lost it. I gave it back to the universe. Plus I haven't been high in a few years, so there it goes.

Yes, after a proper diagnosis I am on Lithium, Risperidone, and Lamictal. I haven't smoked pot in three years. I am doing well.

Most of the people I know who smoke it are laid back, pleasant, easy-going people who work hard for a living, and want to chill when they get home.:)

How does smoking pot make someone feel good about who they are? I smoke pot on a nightly basis, and it's not at all for a self-esteem boost.

Remember son, people exclusively smoke pot to feel better about themselves because they are weak people and only weak people.

What is up with all these pick on high peeps threads/polls?
