And why exactly do you think I need to do my homework? Do you have any idea just what percentile pays which percent of total federal liabilities?
 
Depends on the perspective of the person giving their opinion on this question.
 
Modern economic theory says that question cant be answered without information.

To put it simply,
In a recessionary period taxes are bad.
In an inflationary period taxes are good.

Any Keynesian economist would completely agree with you.
