Throughout the last few years I have watched people take their respective sides and a few vocalize that America will fair better with their respective party having single rule over the country.

Most recently all the calls of Republicans "winning" with the loss of Kennedy and Murtha and previously the Democrats "winning" with the election of Obama and control of both houses of Congress.

Do you think America is better with having equal representation of all major political factions or would the country benefit more from a single party rule?

IMHO, we need equal representation. Within in the past 10 years we have had 4 years of Majority Republican and 4 years of Majority Democrat. Both failed miserably to make any substantial changes to the countries failings that have led us to where we are today.

P.S. Ignore my typos in the poll.

Equal rep is best because its so ... equal.

Both parties are sucking right now, and I really don't see any third party people screaming and shouting. We should at least give the parties equal representation so that stupidity is evenly defined.

I am all for single-party rule, but would not support any of the corrupt, decadent parties listed in your poll.

Gibberish!!! You forgot the Communist Party!

My ideal would be some Libertarian majority. However, I know that this won't happen for years if ever. My biggest (somewhat) realistic hope is for the GOP to actually fufill their campaign promises and go back toward smaller government.

Clearly and beyond doubt a majority Libertarian control of the country, which would shrink government, unfetter business, and liberate the people while maintaining an national defense that is national defense and not mercantilism, would be the best for this nation.

Clearly the Democrat-Republican-socialist model is a proven failure.

"Give" them "equal" represenation?

How? By declaring that the Party to End All Parties, a Jehovah Witness group must have an equal number of seats in Congress as the Party to End All Wars and the Party to Party, not to mention the Democrats and the Republicans and the Libertarians and the Socialists?

I prefer gridlock. Neither party seems to do very well when they have a solid majority; that is, they do things I don't approve of.

Ideally?

Prez: Repub
Senate: Rep 52 Dem 48 (Rep majority, Dems with a filibuster option)
House: about 50/50, or maybe Dem by a very narrow majority.

That should keep them out of too much mischief...

None of the above. I want the best candidate to win.

No option for no longer cares?

This is the best idea yet. Of course the Dems may prefer:

Prez: Dem
Senate: Dem 52 Rep 48 (same options except opposite)
House: equal

Either way, it would be interesting to see how they would be more inclined to be less partisan and more willing to work for the will of the people;)

This poll also depends on what the different party's have in the House and Senate. If there are more radicals of either side, nothing will get done. If there are too many moderates, things might work out fine if either party had a majority. Seeing as the parameters I gave are quite vague...I guess it might be best to just have the most competent people in office, regardless of party affiliations. Smart people know what needs to get done, which is probably why there is such a gridlock in Congress; they are all incompetent.

I would want all conservatives or a majority of conservatives to win, I could care less what letter they have next to their name. A majority of just republicans, just libertarians or just democrats does no good if they contradict your views. For example would any self respecting conservative be happy that a progressive republican one?

I would be happy with a form of fiscal conservative and social liberal. I don't agree with many of the Democrats on size of government or spending habits and I don't agree with Conservatives with meddling in individuals personal affairs.

I don't want anyone to "win"... and, IMO, folks being focused on having your side "win" is precisely what's wrong with this country. I want what's "best"... whatever that may be.

I'm going with a combination of Gosh and CC.

I don't want Libertarians to win a majority, they'll do things way to quick and forever curse being a libertarian.
I'd rather have complete grid lock, the less any of them can do the better I am.

Both parties are full of corporate whores and the minority parties have no real chance of winning, so either way, it doesn't matter.

Too bad we can't have a majority of people like Alan Grayson in the senate and house right now.

The pendulum swings back and forth, such is the nature of politics. I'd just prefer to keep it very close to the middle.

Reallio trulio, things are not too bad in this country, on the whole, as-is. Other than the economy, which ultimately will have to come back on the strength of private enterprise and citizen confidence anyway. I'd druther keep something like the status quo, than give either party too much power to advance its agenda (their real agendii, not their rhetoric. I don't mean that in a tinfoil-hat way; most politicians are about their own power and privilege moreso than ideology.)

The Congress has done everything I want it to do in the last four days.

I vote for letting the snow win.

The only cooperation you would see is if they could work together for their own benefit, not for the people.

Only if you agree to ignore my horrible grammar.

I am a democrat. I think democrats represent my beliefs much moreso than any other party. I will no go strait party line since there are exceptions, for the incompetent, the corrupt, those who, while a democrat, differ with me in key areas.
