This is exactly why we need private insurance. Of course the government shouldn't be paying for this kind of stuff. But if there's demand for it, private insurers may supply coverage.

"This kind of stuff" being a medical procedure that is sometimes necessary for the health of the patient?

I'm glad to see that a number of contributers here, do not need penis enlargement.

Precisely. Just look at the poll. If the government runs insurance and you need or want this procedure, you're screwed.

I see even some of our left wing friends agree on this one......Maybe there is hope for them yet....;)

Says who? If I were setting up such a system, I'd make sure that the doctor was the final say. If Jim-who-wants-to-be-Jane is recommended for surgery by a doctor, who the hell am I to override him? Lacking a medical degree or experience of any sort, I'm not qualified to make that call.

No, enabling a patient's make-believe delusions doesn't help him.

Treating his problem helps him.

And when you do, you should learn a little about the subject. Someone born with a peculiar genetic abnormality can have female genetic and hormonal patterns but still have a penis. And vice versa.

It's not always just in their head.

But what do all those medical doctory types know anyway? You know better.

Let me explain- when an elected government does something, it's driven ultimately by votes. If it's as unpopular as this poll suggests, sex change surgery will not be covered. If there is a legitimate demand for it in the marketplace, private insurance may.

But you are getting into very dangerous ground that communists often use. Communism didn't work because the USSR wasn't "real" communism. Stalin wasn't a nice guy. If I ran it, I would do a lot better. Well frankly that's bull****. Things don't work the way you would like them to in your fantasy land.

Sweet. You really can get a tax deduction for a sex change. That's not the same as forcing the tax payers to pay for it, but hey I'm always in favor of a tax cut. :rofl
Is this part of a standard medical deduction?

Letting black people into the same schools as white people was pretty unpopular too. Sometimes the people are wrong.

You're making my point for me. Politically guided decisions aren't always the best. Which is why politics shouldn't interfere with health insurance.

So, then treat the problem, not the fantasy.

It's not always just in their head.

Well, for Democrats and socialist the thinking and feeling happens in their gonads. Normal people learn to use their heads.

But what do all those medical doctory types know anyway? You know better.

Yeah, I probably do.

I know that encouraging fantasy isn't how one adjusts to reality.

Yes, I agree that welfare shouldn't be paying for it.

That's different from an insurance policy paying for it. If government workers for instance get a benefit where their insurance policy covers it, I don't see that as "government" paying for it.
