Hey, Dav, did you know Palin used notes for her speech? Then she wrote crib notes on her hand, and GOT IT WRONG - crossed it out, and wrote something else?

And this matters, why?

Really, your hypocrisy is showing.

Point out my hypocrasy plz.

To cash in, of course. Some silly notion of fulfilling your term of office was too .... elitist to consider.

That is not even remotely specific. "Cash in" on what?

Yea, totally Reaganesque of her. Just what a Commander-in-Chief should do. Quit when the meanies pick on you.

How about quit when the meanies impede on your ability to govern?

Is that why you support global warming?
Actually I'm an opponent of global warming, as I'd rather not see it continue.

I know of many who profit from ignoring global warming. If you can identify someone who profits from opposing it, I'll take your comment seriously.

He's certainly a quitter. He quit his Senate career in the middle of his term. Just like Palin did with her career as governor.
Both of them earned a promotion. Obama got to be president. Palin got a much bigger payday.

Most of the things on your list are misspeaks. Many of Palin's are not, they are total failures as a communicator. Just looking at this weekend, making fun of Obama for using a teleprompter, but having notes written on your hand for a prepared Q and A session is asking for people to make fun of you.

"Failures as communicator"? Like asking what was meant when someone asked about the "Bush Doctrine", even though there is not one such thing? Like saying that she could see Alaska from her house, even though she never said that? Like saying that Africa is a country, even though (again) she never actually said that? Like having a hundred-thousand-dollar campaign wardrobe, even though she played no part in the process of deciding on that?

And having a few words written on your hand is much different than having an entire speech written out.

And you cannot deny that the whole teleprompter thing is well covered, as has, for example, his bow in Japan, and a ton of other trivial things. To say Obama is getting a free pass is pure exaggeration.

There were a few things like that, but for Palin, every single thing she does seems to generate controversy among those determined to generate controversy about her, of which most of the media is part.

Why stay in Anchorage all winter when you can move to San Diego and write a book? (Well, talk to a book writer, anyway.)

Hey Dav, an example of the liberal media giving Obama a free pass...

Obama Calls Navy Corpsman 'Corpse Man' - Associated Content - associatedcontent.com

Now what was that you where saying?

The blogosphere and talk radio is hardly what I was talking about. And I doubt many stations other than FOX devoted as much time to it as Palin having written stuff on her hand.

Isn't it kind of ironic that I'm having this conversation, yet have stated that I don't actually support Palin? I guess to some, an objective voice will look like a shrill for the other side.

A simple "yes" would have been a sufficient answer, but thank you for your honesty.

Nope, I won't support anyone that gives credence to the birther movement.

Then you support Palin, as it was Clinton's campaign and the P.U.M.A.'s who started the birther movement in an attempt to take Obama's party nomination away.

I don't support Palin in as much that I don't support any one politician.

What are you confused about Dav? She cashed in on her 15 mins of fame and parlayed it into as much time and money as she could. She's in the midst of doing it right now. Or were you unaware of her turns on the lecture circuit, her shiny new analyst job with Fox News, her book tour, etc?

Right, she quit because she couldn't handle the big ole meanies who picked on her. Very Reaganesque ;)
I'm sure the big ole meanies on the world stage would be more deferential to her tender sensibilities, were she to be President and Commmander-in-Chief. Helll, I'm sure her primary opponents will be more deferential to her tender sensibilities. :lamo

Big oil. The regulations desired to stop global warming would harm smaller oil producers more than bigger ones, and prevent anyone from adequately competing with the big oil oligarchy.

IPCC climate change scientists have received tons of funding from Shell.

Yes, to what, Jerry? Like I said, you find me someone who stands to either make or lose $billions$ on the "global warming is a problem" side, I'll take comments like this seriously.

If 2 years is 15 minutes of fame, then I guess Obama had 15 minutes of fame before running for president.

And what, you don't think she would have been able to do all of that after serving out her entire term?

If you're going to ignore the arguments in favor of trying to smear someone you've decided you hate no matter what and that every theoretical criticism of her is valid, I don't even know why you're on a debate site.

They stand to lose more if we actually slowed our use of their product.

The hand thing is just funny though, especially in connection with her earlier comments. Further, Palin is hot news. She is ratings, so of course everything she says is getting looked at.

I understand you are trying to be fair, I just think you are mistaken. Further, go back to the thread on whether Reagan was good or bad, and see the same thing happening to me to an extent.

1.) No, it's not. What that was, was a presidential campaign. :2wave:

2.) Relevance? But for a guess - Maybe she was afraid she's miss the opportunity. She does talk about not missing any open doors. Guess she saw one that looked enticing, and put her walking boots on. Governor shmovener.

3.) I don't understand what you mean.

Nope. She needed to do this while her brand was hot.

With about 15 minutes worth of actual work in the Senate.
