I am posting this anonymous poll to get an idea of where DP members are when it comes to employment.
 
Unemployed again, but awaiting a(hopefully) soon callback to work.
 
I am an unemployed student right now.
 
Employed currently, but may not be in about a month or so.
 
I am employed and I love my job, but thats another poll.
 
Unemployed student trying to find part-time work.
 
I should have added two more choices,

Unemployed and Independently Wealthy

Unemployed and Living off of Entitlements

The downturn in constuction & the 20% vacancy in office space downtown have put a dent in my income....:(

I don't know where you live, but if your city has affordable housing requirements, write to the mayor and tell him how it's cutting into your work opportunity.
 
Unemployed student. I'm thinking of possibly getting a job at a local aquarium store with a "help wanted" sign in the window.

Employed, taking advantage of free job training at work for pretty much any Microsoft or other cert I want. I hope to use them to get a better job once things get better. But I am probably underemployed at this point.

Construction has taken the hardest hit. I think unemployment in it is at 23% last I heard. Most employers are taking advantage of it by paying substand wages. Also illegal immigrants have flocked into construction because half of it involves the underground economy.

I just met a 56 year old carpenter with a bad back who had changed his occupation to the junk business because it was not worth being a carpenter.

I can't wait for the payback to those employers when the economy improves and they can't find any qualified mechanics.:fart

Right now I am an unemployed student that is looking for work. Right now I am really hoping to find a pharmacy tech job somewhere. As of now I am studying biology (mainly cellular biology and genetics). I am thinking of going to pharmacy school when I graduate college, which is why I am looking for a pharmacy job.

Unemployed Student. Although I am going to start taking a bartender course soon and work at the school's bar. Hopefully over the summer I can get a part time job at one of the thousands of sports bar in Boston. Either that or find another nonpaying internship.
 
Tough to know how to answer right now. I am an employer, but have taken no salary the last few months so I can keep my employees going until business picks up.

I'm one of those worthless bastards who hasn't made a dime in months.
