How do you think Obama did last night?

He got 83% approval from this CBS Poll.

The message was dumb, and bad. It's basically not saying anything and pulling out of politically hot topics. But I can listen to Obama speak which is an improvement over our last President, so I gave him a bit of a + for that. Over all, I rate it as pretty terrible.

Except for what I bolded I agree. I personally can't stand Obama's delivery, it reaks of arrogance and says nothing. I don't care how bad someone's diction or pronunciation is, I will take an ugly speech with substance over pretty and vapid any day of the week.

I had a particularly sour taste in my mouth after this speech, it was pretty awful.

It was sad actually, it seemed like Obama was just bowing down to the GOP every 5 seconds. "Oh thank you sir may I have another?"

This will certainly be another luke-warm year of Obama reaching out and not delivering, and of course the GOP will not even budge no matter how "centrist" they want him to be.

Then I saw some GOP members on the news saying that Obama needs to move more the center? HA! If he moves more to the right he might as well be a Republican, considering how much he has been polishing the shoes of the GOP.

This presidency has been such a failure ever since it began.

Also I would like to take a minute and laugh at the OP for the poll options. "Pretty" terrible versus "fairly" terrible? Good luck with that one.

Disappointing. He didn't even get to health care until 35 minutes into the speech (after he found the time to talk about community colleges), and then spent a mere 5 minutes on the subject. His claim that he doesn't quit would have been a lot more believable if he had actually talked about the subject instead of just whisking through it as quickly as possible to get on to something else.

I think he made it blatantly clear that he no longer cares about health care reform. If they don't pass a health care bill, I will not be voting this November.

And if they do pass the bill, a lot more people will be voting this November for whatever candidate promises to repeal it. I think that this will ultimately stop them from passing anything but a small, bipartisan bill. Frankly I'm appalled that Obama called to keep going forward with what's on the table. It's as if the Massachusetts special election never happened to him, or was nothing more than a nuisance.

Interesting how quickly the Republicans stood and cheered though when Obama said that if they had a better plan, he'd like to see it.

From the article:

Perhaps predictably, Americans who watched the speech were more Democratic than the nation as a whole. Historically, a President's supporters are more likely than his opponents to watch State of the Union addresses. Forty-four percent of speech viewers in this poll described themselves as Democrats while only 21 percent said they were Republican.

But of course, they'll present a plan which is as bad as the one already on the table. And nothing will get done either way.

Lately I have yet to see a source that someone does not accuse of bias, so unless you have a conservative version of the website, its the best tool we have.

It's not the best tool you have, it's a biased, partisan site that you support, only because it says things that support your position. If there was a conservative version, which there may be, I don't know, you'd dismiss it out of hand because it doesn't back up your beliefs.

If there is no good site, and currently there may not be, then there is no good site. You don't just embrace a flawed site because it's all you can find.

Yeah, that tends to happen ;)

I think it was wonderful where he nearly exposed one of the conservative Supreme Court "judges" for being disrespectful....probably white trash...
and this I will not take back, I just have too many suspicions.

You mean when Obama lied about the supreme court decision?

He did a wonderful job!

I think he was chilling/backing off healthcare for the night because there are more important things that people care about?

I loved what he had to say about education & community colleges and would love to see what he said about those things happen.

Obama is totally screwed because he had so many things to deal with and no matter what issuse and how much time he spent on each one? There are gonna be people not happy about the content nor the time he took on each subject.

In otherwords what he failed to spend more time on matters to you while what he did spend time on matters to others.

Don't you think that one of the most powerful men in the world should have a bit of arrogance? ;)

I think some people mistake arrogance for confidence and strength:lol:

I'm fine with a bit of arrogance, it's when it's full blown like this case I get a little po'd

I think some people mistake arrogance for confidence and strength:lol:
Nah, I'm confident, and I can smell smug and arrogant from a mile away, I know you're an Obama fan and that's fine, but I still say he's way too smug for what we're getting out of him.

I voted "don't care".

He's already campaigning for the next POTUS election, so I could really care less what smoke he's trying to blow.

I want to see results. Talk is cheap.

What agenda results could Obama get that would satisfy you? I'm referring to things he'd actually push for.
