Is Glenn Beck a reporter or an entertainer

Should Glenn Beck be treated as a legitimate reporter or as an entertainer?

How about Ed Schultz? I wish he would have a major, miraculous conversion to conservatism so we could blame him on you guys. I enjoy Olberman when I actually watch the show, but not for his political commentary, but for his sense of humor(note, I think the same of O'Rielly).

I love Ed Schultz. He tells it like it is. I love the fact that he's not shy about telling Obama, "You are f-king up, dude."

I'd also like to add that I do not watch Glenn Beck, as I generally cannot stand his show. I just find the left's seething hatred of him (and Sarah Palin) quite telling. Anyone who dares to speak out forcefully against liberal policies is instantly smothered in vitriol.

Hello? And you don't see the right-wing commentators doing the same thing to Maddow, Olbermann and Matthews????????? Oh, and Obama as well? Jesus Christ. What world do you live in?

I see where you admit that it goes both ways. So then why are you so SHOCKED at how much the left hates Beck and Palin? This is entirely inconsisent thoughts, IMO.

More of an entertainer of irritated, red-face-and-high-blood-pressure Conservatives than a reporter. But then for most of us he's only funny or entertaining in an inadvertent way.

No, it's funny that you refuse to concede the point and continue to pretend your hyperbole is valid.

I would recommend you consult the dictionary before posting next time. No where have I engaged in "hyperbole" and nothing you've said even remotely resembles a "point".

I'm fully aware that not ALL liberals and Democrats are accurately characterized by my prior statements, which is why I said "generally speaking" in response to your query. The fact that my statement is absolutely true precludes it from being hyperbole.

Bailouts, "stimulus", and health care "reform" are the most obvious examples of the left's refusal to listen anyone who doesn't agree with their agenda. Even as we speak, the Democratic elites are up in Washington negotiating health care reform in secret. Another broken promise by the Liar and Hypocrite in Chief, Barry Obama.

Change! No lobbyists! Transparency! Bipartisan politics!

LAFF!!!

Why are you posting here, if "the left" does not listen?

Because I freaking feel like it.

Btw, you have as yet to make a "reasoned critiques of their policy initiatives." lol

Really? Have you read all 6,479 of my posts at DP? Begone noob...

Never said I was shocked.

Whether Beck is an entertainer or not is debatable. I suppose that depends on the individual. Is the lady that screws the donkey in Tijuana an entertainer or just a nasty ho'?

But one thing is for sure. He is not a reporter, journalist or anything credible in that fashion.

On the poll one person, give him the reporter title.:rofl I am under the expression that he is neither a reporter, nor does he entertain me. So to me, he is nether.

To me, he seems to be borderline crazy.

He's an entertaining reporter.....;)

My standards for regarding someone as a reporter must be a bit higher. To me, a reporter "reports." Beck just whines and belly-aches and bitches about America and acts like a dumb-ass. But that's entertainment, I suppose.

Circus clowns should get paid what he does. At least they are true to the art.

Glenn Beck, and others in his field, project themselves as beacons of truth when they're on the air and then and to hide behind words like "opinion" and "commentator" and "entertainer" when they get caught totally screwing up.

In other words, Glenn Beck and others like him sell themselves as legitimate sources of accurate information, and then they hide behind the First Amendment when they get called on the carpet -- and that's when they don't preemptively invoke "opinion" at the very moment they're spouting their rhetoric.

Since Glenn Beck can't seem to decide whether he's going to bill himself as a source of information or a font of opinion, I thought I'd ask the question here, in a poll:

Is Glenn Beck a reporter or an entertainer? To which standard should he be held?

ETA: "Entertainer" is used to reference the profession. You can be an entertainer without actually being entertaining.
I say he is an entertainer but he is also a source of information.

Hey, I gotta great idea! Let's make the scumbags locked up at Gitmo have to listen to Beck, in Arabic, 24 hours a day. That would be better than making them to listen to Barry Manilow. That would break even the most stubborn of men. Beck very well may be a GREAT source of information, indeed.

You're on to something Jamerage. Always thinking, you. :2wave:

Either that or listen to Obama's campaign speeches.

That's a good idea too. But that's much on the same level of having to listen to Barry Manilow. I say we turn it up a knotch. Take the gloves off, so to speak. Make 'em listen to Beck. Make 'em really suffer... Bwahahahahaha!

Okay this is off topic.

I went on tour with Barry Manilow once working for Rolling Stone Magazine. While the music might not be my taste he was one of the super famous that was the best of bestest to work for. And he worked hard as **** for what he has and still does to this day.

Poor guy. I hope they paid you well. :rofl

Manilow does Gitmo! LIVE!

"I write the songs that make the camels cry. I write the songs that attract desert flies. I write the songs, I write the songs."

Sing along time. C'mon! You ALL know a BM song. Let's karaoke!

I bought 2 of Beck's books. I just couldn't make it through his book, Arguing with Idiots. It put me to sleep. So I suggest, we get the oral version of his books and have them read each night.
