How do you grade Obama's presidency so far

Obama has done a lot of stuff whether you agree with him or not, he has still done a lot, which means the time until 2013 should be used wisely.

Please list, with links and in minor detail "a lot of stuff" that Obama has done.

What I was saying was that whether you agree with these actions or not, they are still numerous, which means Obama has time to do a lot more "stuff," good or bad.

No links because I'm not gonna spend an hour just to get a point across, these are so obvious that I don't think you need proof:

- Stimulus spending
- Credit card reform
- Copenhagen talks
- Nobel peace prize
- Raising taxes to Clinton era status
- Initiating the pull out of Iraq
- Afghanistan surge of troops
- Initiating health care reform talks
- Lilly Ledbetter Act (not so obvious, solink at bottom)
- Spinelessness on health care reform
- Others I can't think of, but I will get back to you on that

Now, In my book, that's a lot for a president to do in less than a year into his administration, you may or may not think otherwise.

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilly_Ledbetter_Fair_Pay_Act_of_2009"]link[/ame] Yeah its Wikipedia, sue me.

How's that my lord?:)

Half the list is an opinion, and the other half are actions whose consequences have yet to be seen. So I will agree that we should give him time, but saying that this is all stuff he's done is kind of a stretch. Unless of course you can provide links and some solid evidence to support said claims. And that Far Pay Act is just more racially driven division crap that he only signed. He didn't create or introduce it to the best of my knowledge.

I will make one exception on the Credit Card reform, which I do like. I don't have credit cards, but it was a nice gesture to those in debt.

He's done those things. That's pretty self-evident.

What remains to be seen is whether or not doing those things was good, bad, or a waste of time.

That's exactly my point, its opinion.

Ok then I won't say "done" I should say he's "involved in" all of those things. If he's involved in this many things, think of how many things he will do in the years to come.

Anyway the bottom line to my argument is that he has time to redeem himself even after the C I gave. I was being nice too. I mean, even though I'm liberal I still feel I should give him an D or F.

Actually Tucker says it best:

He's done those things. That's pretty self-evident.

What remains to be seen is whether or not doing those things was good, bad, or a waste of time.

I gave him a C, but C- would be more accurate. He's no worse than Bush, maybe better not sure.

The American people elected Obama (he won the popular vote) - so you can whine that politicians don't rule for the people, but in the US every politician was either directly or indirectly put into power by the will of the people, so if they're unhappy then they should've picked someone else.

so you are an interupted uberdouche?
sorry I did not recognize your doucheness earlier

Which is sometimes like a mountain, and sometimes like a blade of grass...

I gave him a C, mostly because I'm hoping he'll improve. But since I voted against McCain and not really for Obama, I guess there wasn't much I was really expecting out of him.

Iraq/Afghanistan: D
He ran on getting our troops the hell out of Iraq, that didn't include just moving them all into Afghanistan. We need to get the hell out of the Middle East, we cannot force these people to adopt a democracy if they don't want one and clearly, none of them do. As soon as we leave, they're going to go right back to a dictatorship with heavy religious overtones, we're just wasting time and money that we don't have to waste right now.

National Security: C
Related to the wars, he's still pissing people off, just like Bush did. It's time to let other countries do whatever they want to do, we are not saviors to the planet.

Foreign Relations: B
I think he's doing better here, mostly because he'd be hard pressed to do worse than Bush. Still not great, but at least he isn't threatening to invade people.

Domestic Policy: C
I don't think he's done a damn thing for the economy, he's just stopped it from hemorraghing as badly as it was before. A recovery with no new jobs is not a recovery at all. It's like saying you're getting better because you're not bleeding as badly from the knife-wound in your gut as you used to be. Again, this is a problem because Obama, like Bush before him, just wants to put us back on the track to fiscal irresponsibility. They don't want to fix the problem, which is living beyond our means, they want to patch it up so we can go back to living the good life, buying a new SUV every year and a new big screen plasma TV for Christmas. Our entire economic system is unsustainable, but Obama doesn't want to actually fix it, he wants to get back to the high life.

Immigration: Potential F
Only because he hasn't had time to do anything about it, but the writing is on the wall for another mass amnesty of crimnial illegal aliens. We need to crack down on illegals and reform our immigration process so that the right people get in faster and easier, but the wrong people (including people who show no respect for our most basic of laws) are kept out permanently.

Healthcare: F
He's just wasting more time and money on the whole healthcare reform until he grows some balls and actaully attacks the core of the problem: the insurance industry and the lawyers. But of course, neither he nor Congress will ever do that, those are two groups that give tons of money to their re-election campaigns. Any attempt to fix healthcare while ignoring those two issues is doomed to failure.

Supreme Court: B
I don't really mind Sotomayor, in fact one of the reasons I voted against McCain was to keep him from tipping the SCOTUS any more conservative. We need a balanced court, one that is not too conservative nor too liberal. I'd really rather see the court nominations process entirely out of the President's hands.

You have to admit that we had few expectations of Bush in his first year, where he snoozed up until 9/11, then launched us into an unnecessary war.

We have enormous expectations of President Obama.

I'd have been happy had Bush snoozed all the way through his presidency. I have no more expectations from Obama than I did for Bush and frankly, I don't think Obama is capable of fulfilling any expectations. He went in as the savior, he's showing that he's just some guy with big talk and no results.

In just about everything he's taken action, he's screwed it up so far. Time for him to stop trying and go take a nap.

People may enter into whatever contracts they wish. If they want to call that contract a "marriage" or a "civil union" then what the hell do I care?

Gay, straight, polygamous...whatever.

Just don't expect the government to validate your lifestyle by institutionalizing it.

Currently, people are not allowed to enter into the same sort of civil contract that heterosexuals can, many states forbid it outright. Besides, no matter how much you libertarians might dislike the idea of state-sanctioned marriage, it currently exists and is not functionally capable of being abolished, hence like it or not, it's going to stick around. As our Constitution guarantees equal protection under the law, and legal marriage is legal, it cannot be restricted legally by sexual preference.

Since he's only been in officer for a short time, I'll give him a C (overall).

To be more specific, this is how I would grade him so far:

Economy: C - Again, only time will tell, but at the moment I think he could be cutting spending in some areas.

Foreign Policy: F - He broke his promise not to send more troops, and he's continuing down the road of Bush's foreign policy.

Health Care: D - I know Congress is mostly taking the lead on this, but both Obama and the Democrats need to show some leadership. The health care bill has been watered down. Major reform needs to be done.

Social Issues: A - Since we are focused on fixing the economy and reforming health care, I don't expect him to do much in this area for now.. But so far he has decided not to prosecute Medical Cannabis patients. That is enough for me right now. After the serious issues are dealt with, I'm hoping he will end "Don't Ask Don't Tell."

Like I said.. It's a little too early, but next year I will say more. :)

**** I Voted Against (not FOR McCain/Palin) because I knew that there was more unknown about him than known - and THAT is exceedinly dangerous - ALSO Israel with 400+ Nukes does not trust him AND his very private views on US & World History if known would cause many to reconsider.

**** He's had 30 + years of White Liberals deferring to him and easing his path He's quite used to it and expects it and the MAIN reason this Health Care monstrosity might now well pass in some form (later to be piled onto) is because of his personna - not it's necessity or meriots.

He is exactly what I warned People about. way to fond of the sound of his own voice. and as time passes, notice how he looks father down his nose at us little people. --Max Headroom, with out the Humor:mrgreen:

Iraq/Afghanistan: D

Actually it did. Adding more troops to Afghanistan was part of his campaign from the beginning.

Foreign Policy: F - He broke his promise not to send more troops

He never promised that. In fact, he promised the opposite.

I agree with you on all except 2 grades. For foreign policy, he did say he was going to dispatch troops to Afghanistan, as well as move troops out of Iraq. Thats happening.

For the economy, we can't especially give him a grade. Bernanke was the one who drooped rates, and established the TARP idea (I might be wrong on that), all Obama really did was give Bernanke free rein with the funds. I think for doing that, he deserves a B- or so, mainly because he didn't do much directly except talk, but his subordinates managed to avert a Greater Depression, so he gets some credit for that. The thing keeping him from an B+ or above, is the fact that regulation is still not established, and we still haven't recovered even half way, so there is still a lot of room for error, which would, again, be by his subordinates, but it would still reflect on him a certain amount.
