No, of course not, just look at the climate change issue...

Has anyone even bothered to discuss how much this country has changed?

Have we not pushed out every possible dirty manufacturing in this country, did we not go from grey skies in LA, to blue skies?

Did we not clean up our water, did we not perfect our sewage systems, yet we are still the bad guys all over the world? Did we not regulate that our autos clean their emissions?

What else do we have to do, when will it be good enough?:doh

The purpose of "debate" is to win the argument. It's the other side's duty to produce the refutation data.

As for honest, that's another matter, and not relevant to debate technique.

No, it's not honest to hold a position that one know's is false. Which makes all socailists shameless liars.

Before I jump in, what exactly are you referring to? There are people here who dismiss everything inconvenient to their argument as "biased". It's a word I have come to distrust alot.

How about a few examples?

The intelligence to invade Iraq as an example of cherry picking.

Choosing only high margins of victory for anti-gay marriage ballots as why gay marriage is doomed while ignoring votes that had slim margins as an example of cherry picking.

Pointing out how Republican politicians are immoral by their unethical actions while ignoring numerous Democrat indecent incidents as to why Democrats are better.

Picking a few data points that support one's position while ignoring the other data points that do not as an example of statistical sampling bias.
