Why isn't Lichtenstein on this poll?!

Come again? Could you repeat that in English?

I will repeat, that military tactics at one battle in Vietnam in 1954 has absolutely nothing to do with which European nation is the most powerful.

Until you define what you mean by most powerful, the debate is utterly pointless. You can regard such an opinion as ridicule if you want, but then you'd be failing in your definition of that common English word too.

It's american you grammar nazi. Next time be so kind to show my faulty english, I might improve.

Powerful: having great power, prestige, or influence <a powerful leader>

If you're able to combine powerful with most you can bore us with your opinion. Some battle in Asia could be considered part of 'prestige', although I wouldn't argue over something that trivial in such an important question like who's the most powerful country in Europe.

Okay. American and Nazi require capital letters. Second sentence should have been written thus: "Next time, be so kind as to point out my faulty English; I might improve." The use of correct punctuation really helps comprehension.

Powerful: having great power, prestige, or influence <a powerful leader>

Now, you see, this doesn't really help us. "Having great power," means having what kind of power? Economic? Military? Cultural? Sporting? Physical? "Prestige"? In whose eyes and estimation? "Influence"? Over what and whom?

I'm afraid that's another sentence that doesn't make any sense to me. "If you are able to combine powerful with most..." How would I do that? What do you mean, "combine powerful with most...?" Powerful what? Most what?

Well, at least we agree on something. It was a very fatuous diversion for the thread to take. Where we don't agree is that I think the very basis of the thread is pretty fatuous, as no one seems capable of defining what constitutes 'powerful'. In point of fact, there seem to be quite a few posters who are unclear as to what constitutes Europe.

One of the joys of being dutch is always having an excuse.

I would say physical but I guess this is entirely up to you, you only need to have an opinion to take part. You can motivate why you believe one of the given three has the most power.

ehm .. maybe "most powerful" ..

get some caffeine into your system and vote you communist bastard!

You felt the need to point it out, as if this was a very serious thread that dealt with a very important question.

Makes you wonder, just how many guys are lining up to proudly join the "elite" and earn the right to wear this *ahem* "attractive" uniform? :thinking

they could fight against Robin Hood's MEN IN TIGHTS

the side with the least runs wins!!!

You have no clue. Those Greek Evzones dress like that when forming the Honour Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Greek Parliament in Athens. There was a terrorist bomb blast in the Square in January this year. Despite a telephoned warning, those guards in the funny outfits refused to abandon their posts. The officer who informed them stood with them when they declined his offer. Luckily they were all uninjured in the explosion.

Never said they weren't brave

you got to have lots of guts to dress like that in public!!

Lighten up dude, you will live longer

I can hardly type while laughing do hard.

I thought kilts were sissified.

You have to be tough to wear kilts, and I'm guessing you have to be a real bad ass to wear this goofy Greek uniform with the poofter pom pom slippers with pantyhose or tights what ever you want to call them.

Too funny, do they have a don't ask don't tell rule?

No, but these ones do.

You telling me the Greeks look gayer than that? That's Navy pride for you!

Lets have a bet

you and I will walk through an inner city in the USA-I dressed as the US sailor and you in the kilt and hose.

what do you think the outcome will be?

That you'll get waaaay more offers of c*** than me. Guaranteed!

Not really. If the German effort was there they could build a good navy comparable to GB and then the fight would be all over for GB.

I'm suprised noone has said Russia? Maybe not enough posts yet.

This is a repeat of 1914?

Offers? I doubt it but I guarantee who is going to have the living crap beat out of them

uniforms are fairly common in inner cities-its a common way out of the the ghetto. believe it or not, most of the guys in the hood respect-or at least don't respect, guys in enlisted uniforms

Eh? Do they or don't they respect guys in uniform?

And in which hoods? That may be an American thing, because the military has a considerably lower prestige in many other countries.

I dont think some guy from Ohio can talk about being in the hood, and heads up its not 1990 no one calls it the "hood" anymore. Seriously don't talk about people I think its clear you have no connection with.

Something tells me the wiseguy is gonna get beat up in the ghetto, not the guys in any uniform.

I don't pretend to speak for countries I don't live in
