Care to back that up? That every President since 1900, and until 1999 has violated his oath of office?

Well let's see:

Roosevelt: Progressivism and railroad regulation
Taft: Dollar Diplomacy
Wilson: Draft
Harding: Regulation of the telegraph
Coolidge: Support of farm subsidies (in general)
Hoover: Intervention into the economy
Roosevelt: New Deal
Truman: Took over the railways
Eisenhower: Expanding social welfare programs
Kennedy: New Fronteir
Johnson: War on Poverty
Nixon: Price controls
Ford: Education for All Handicapped Children Act
Carter: Chrysler bailout
Reagan: Iran-Contra
Bush: ADA
Clinton: Energy tax

Hands down, Warren G. Harding is the worst president of the 20th century.

Its like having Jack Abramoff, Bernie Madoff, and Rod Blagojevich as the president at the same time.

Ah, good. That's what I was waiting for someone to bring up. I'm not one for having a favorite President or least favorite, but what I was waiting for was someone to bring up the perception of Harding's presidency in those terms. It was quite the popular sentiment towards his administration, hence why I was kind of surprised at the lack of attention towards him.

Boy, if you could find one post that highlights the differences between Libertarians and everyone else....you got it right here.

You mean that we actually take the constitution literally as it's supposed to be read?

And another one.

Too good to even respond to my posts huh? Nice.

I've explained why I believe that Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan violated their oaths and subverted the U.S. Constitution. They were more than merely criminal in their acts, they were traitorous.

I think at the least some of those who voted ‘James Earl Carter’ as the worst president of the 20th century, namely, Agent Ferris, apdst, bicycleman, Dav, EpicDude86, Goshin, LadyLiberty, LaMidRighter, Missouri Mule, Partisan, Porchev, ptif219, Redress, Vader, should explain their vote and help us understand just what acts he committed that in their eyes causes him to deserve this scourge.

Hi! Since you decided to name me, let me point out that if you had read the thread before posting, you would have discovered exactly why I chose Carter. Is there some reason you cannot be bothered to read and expect me to repeat myself? Is there some reason you have a hard time accepting that in a thread asking our opinions, some have a different opinion, and use a different method to decide worst?

You're right! I overlooked your posted reasoning. Sorry about that. So am I right that your only offering regarding your pick is as follows?

… I think my pick would have to be Carter, if just because he was such a disappointment. He was of my party, and we had high hopes for him, but ended up being incredibly ineffective.

That's it: he disappointed you. He wasn't a criminal mastermind like Nixon. He didn't violate his oath and subvert the Constitution like Reagan.

Your only expansion on your disappointment with him was that you had “high hopes” and he was “incredibly ineffective.” Carter was ineffectual in your eyes despite being a principled leader throughout his tenure who was the last president to sign an energy plan for this country, righted our Latin America relations and brought about the only Middle East peace agreement of the modern era (a peace agreement that continues to this day and has never been violated).

Fine. Got it. Thanks, Redress. That makes it all clear why Carter was the worst president of the 20th century in your opinion. Sorry, I asked you to elaborate on your decision. It was all so obvious. :doh

By my standards, I chose him. I expected little from Reagan, and got little. Nixon I was just a little kid when he was in office, and his crimes did not really anger me. Carter, who I agree was principled I had high hopes for. I thought he would move the country in a better direction, and he did not. I expected Reagan to move the country in ways I did not like, and that is what I got. Carter I expected more from, and did not get.

You may not like the reasons I gave, but they are as valid as the reasons you give to explain your opinion. There are no concrete metrics to measure the quality of a president, none. So we pick what matters to us, and what matters to me is how they matched my expectations. That is a perfectly valid measure of how "good" a president is. It's time to come off your high horse and accept that others have opinions that don't match up to yours exactly, and not get all upset when they express those opinions.

Why is Clinton not soaring in this poll?

Oh yeah, there is something called "liberalism" that champions degeneracy. :doh

I am proud to champion degeneracy! Degenerates unite! We are the future, with a fag in every kitchen, smut on every TV, joints in every pocket, and condoms in every school. Oh, the the bible will be banned. Fear us!

You mean that we actually take the constitution literally as it's supposed to be read?

If it's "supposed" to be read that way, how come nobody has ever read it that way?

If you looked hard enough you could likely find an example of every single president "violating" the Constitution by modern-day libertarian standards.

Because they see the constitution as something that's in the way, not the law of the land. All other law is read literally, why not the constitution?

They all have.

Alright you Negative Nancies. Pick a President on the list that you dislike for whatever reason, then post something good that they did. Maybe a little sunshine and ****ing happiness will turn this thread around.

At least you are a liberal who admits it. You forgot to add drinking the blood of dead babies killed in partial birth abortions.

Nixon opened up relations with China, I was always a fan of that.

Hoover has a dam named after him. Bush Sr. has an aircraft carrier named after him.

Yeah because Clinton was so much worse then a president who turned a recession into the largest economic decline in US history and started the largest trade war in US history. Clinton was so much worse then the presidents who did nothing to stop the Civil War, the bloodiest loss of American life so far. Clinton was so much worse then a President who appointed his friends who systematically robbed the government. So much worse then a president who's administration earned the title "Den of Thieves."

Your ignorance is appalling.
