Trans Ams kick ass! Got an old S-10 Blazer, will drive it till it DIES, good acceleration, Damn Good low end torque, still runs well, it won't die, it's paid for...........and the best thing is, the cute smug looks I get from neo-hippy environmentalists and the ensuing smile and middle finger I give 'em for their indignant superiority complexes behind the wheels of their death traps, uh, I mean compact cars/hybrids.:mrgreen:I drive a CUV that gets ~33 and (surprise) a T/A that gets ~10.5
The T/A has a strong 403 (that's 6.6L for you environazis) that lumps and lopes and blurps and rumbles and just reeks of gas at idle, as a large-cammed, richly carburated automobile should. I'll bet one full shot from the accelerator pump blasts more gas into the engine than a Prissy-us uses on a mile of interstate.Trans Ams kick ass! I looked at one of the VW diesels.I got the new VW Rabbit. It burns 30 mpg on the highway, but I mostly drive in the city so it says I get 22 mpg. I figure that's about right. It has 170 hp, but since it is pretty light it is good enough get up and go. It ain't no sports car. If I wanted one of those I would drop $30,000 and get a Nissan 350Z.
That's because you hate the environment, clean air, clean water, baby seals, polar bears -and- America.A 1990 GMC cargo van with 350 V8 and towing package.
Oh, gee....I didn't buy a new car and subject myself to ridiculously high punitive California vehicle taxes and sales taxes. What a shame.
1996 F-250 extra cab long bed 4x4 diesel....... slightly modified intake and exhaust, and a Superchips tuner. 22 highway, 18 city.
And I can blow the doors off most new cars.
I had a Ram 1500 QC 4x4 w/ the 5.9. Got 18 on a -really- good day.1996 F-250 extra cab long bed 4x4 diesel....... slightly modified intake and exhaust, and a Superchips tuner. 22 highway, 18 city.

You'll get no sympathy from me. Long bed pickups are the devil incarnate. You can't park one of those in a standard size parking space. I laugh at how stupid they look sticking out and causing problems.

Rides as smooth as a Cadillac, I've had over 4,000 lbs of concrete blocks on it, rode smooth as a Cadillac, I 4-wheel a lot in my business, rides smooth as a Cadillac.... and gets better mileage.
PS... if you know how to park, it's no problem.... maybe you have it confused with a crew-cab.
Yeah, that's it.
I do love seal clubbing season, I gotta tell ya.

Ah, I park my full size cargo van in the "compact" spaces, hopefully between two itty-bitty hybrids or a Cooper Mini, then get out the back door.
Too bad those cars don't have back doors. I sat and watched the driver of one clamber in his passenger door and squirm behind his steering wheel.
Loads of fun, that.

Too much truck for the engine.
Ummm....a system's natural frequency is defined as the square root of the stiffness divided by the mass. Increase the mass, and the frequency goes down, and that's what gives the smoother ride. Caddy's have soft springs to provide that smooth ride instead.
Funny, that with just a chip, you -added- as much power/torque as a Prissy-us -has-.That 7.3 power stroke is the best engine ever made. With the super chips tuner I can add 80 HP w/ 115 ft lbs more torque at the push of a button.
I have 2.5" true duals, with gutted mufflers. No idea what it did to the mileage. The stock exhaust has been cut out and a straight 3" pipe has been installed without a muffler (it has 3 10 degree bends instead and is quiet until you romp on it) which added 40 horses (stock had the pipe necked down to a 1" x 3" oval at the firewall) and a reusable foam air cleaner all of which gives it 3 MPG better than stock.
