I think the assholes that have turned our system into a living, smelly, complex, perverted labyrinth of latrines need to experience a little of the crap we have to put up with on a daily basis. We should be insisting they live with more laws and more intrusive laws than what we live with. This information should be public, posted on the internet for the world to see.

They like taxes so much for example, well... I think any tax we are burdened with should apply to them at a rate of 134.675%. I like that number, has a good ring to it. If these wiseguys tax reports are not perfect, they are immediately removed from office, their privilege of screwing up the country revoked... for life.

Beyond stripping them of virtually all Congressional privileges, these people should be drug tested randomly and frequently. Not just the elected officials, but the key staffers... from the White House down to the freshman, backbencher congressman. These urine and blood tests should be posted on the internet. I want to know all about their medical conditions. I want to know who has STD's, alcohol problems, diseases, and the like. This is for the good of the people... of course.

We drug test athletes to make sure their performances are clean,I think the circus clowns running our lives, those retards gunking up our system need to show they are playing clean too. After all, their playing field... is a far more serious part of life. These people should be the FIRST to be drug tested. Not just when they are at work either... No, no, no... that is too easy. I think when they are on vacation with their family or mistress, at a nice dinner, or party... the drug testers should come in and haul them out for a test. Just like guys on the pro bicycle tour... or Olympic athletes. You want to go to Sri Lanka for vacation... we'll be there to test you.

I could care less what jocks are doped... let'em... I'd like seeing baseballs flying 45km into residential projects and knocking out little old ladies sitting on park benches. I want to see someone run the 100-meters in under 9 seconds. The really serious stuff... our lives and laws... the lawmakers doing the forking of the system... stuff with real impact... I think these jerks need testing.

The penalty for either non-compliance or failure to would be immediate removal from office. Pack your s**t and get outta here. At a minimum they lose their ability to represent their community in votes for 12-months. The only way the people would be able to be represented is to replace the elected official. New player in the game. No appointments either. A new election. It should cost the community something for sending some space cadet or alcoholic to Congress. He should be fined as well. I think $250,000 for elected officials isn't too much for the inconvenience. That way the assholes would partially fund the testing project. Staffers would pay the equivalent of one year's salary, and be fined $25,000.

That would help keep Congress and the WH clean. After all, they're playing with our lives. It isn't a "game".

If we're going to drug test jocks, I think we should, at a minimum, be drug testing those who are f**king with our lives on a daily basis. We should make their lives as uncomfortable as they make ours, and fill it with as many nuisances as possible. The benefit might be they're so preoccupied they can't get anything done.

Yes they should be drug tested. They are no different than any other employee.

Can we also test them for intelligence and common sense? I have a feeling most would fail. ;)

Awesome rant, zimmer.

Yes, test them now. but don't forget to replace them in the next election.

Hell no. That sounds like a great way to ensure that our drug policy gets monotonically more draconian.

Do you think Congress would pass such a law? :rofl

I really don't think that most members of congress have time for addictions. They rise early and go to bed late almost every night. Maybe they let their hair down on weekends or during special occasions, but seriously... look at these people. Most of them look tired half of the time. Most of them also fall into party lines with policies and voting, which means even if they did theoretically do drugs, they wouldn't be able to do anything radical.

I voted yes because I don't think they should be afforded any liberty that is above the liberty afforded by any other American. The government has the power to enforce drug testing or outlaw it. If they had to do random's, like any other common citizen might be forced to submit, they's get a feel for what it's like living under their own rules.

Hell, not just piss tests, I wish they'd make politicians take polygraphs too. Four times a year. Random. Screw politicians.

If we drug test the government, which is a public institution, then they can turn around and drug test us for any reason. Drug testing tends to occur in private companies except in cases related to crime and enforcement (i.e. drinking and driving, probation requirements, etc.).

Yes they have a job and we are their "employers" but it's still the public realm so they should be afforded the same freedoms we are.

See, that's the problem in this country, we keep putting the foxes in charge of the henhouse and wondering why nothing ever changes. When you put lawyers in charge of the legal system and politicians in charge of the political system, is it any surprise that no reform ever gets done? The people who have to enact the changes are the ones who already benefit from the current system!

I feel like that is far more important.

And in some cases, doping up members of Congress may improve the legislation as well as efficiency. Some are so bat**** crazy that drugs may actually make them sane.

We piss test the military, we piss test law enforcement and other tax payer funded employees, elected politicians should not be exempt. It doesn't matter if it is a public institution, they are our employees.

No.

Nobody should be subjected to drug testing without reason.

Nobody should be subjected to any drug test that does anything other than test for current impairment (with an exception for a situation such as probation restriction).

And, just to complete the thought, testing of minors would be under the discretion of the parents.

Considering the incompetence of those in office one has to wonder how impaired they are. Too be on the safe side they should be be tested for drug use just like any other employee who ****s up.
