I bet you thought you'd see Bush or Obama's name up there...

James Buchanan. It takes a special kind of terrible to do nothing while half the country secedes. Honorable mention goes to Andrew Johnson, who actively sided with the segregationists following the Civil War.

Actually, pretty much every president between 1849 and 1881 (with the exception of Lincoln) was downright awful.

I could be argued that Franklin Pierce bears much of that blame as well.

That is hard to disagree with.

Props to EpicDude86 for a decent poll.

Franklin Pierce had some horrible luck, but yeah, he was a pretty crappy President too. :( poor, poor alcoholic Pierce.

The man just sat there as the country marched to Civil War. IMO, that's treason. While do-nothing presidents have their benefits from time to time, that was not the path he should have taken.

I don't think he was so much treasonous as he was a sickly, fearful little man. He did well on the State level, but when he went big time, he just fell apart.

Woodrow Wilson.

Passed the 16th, 17th, and 19th Amendments.

DRAGGED the US into WWI - thereby setting the stage for WWII.

Created the Federal Reserve, which caused the Great Depression.

Enacted unconstitutional anti-sediction laws criminalizing freedom of expression (see "Eugene Debbs")

League of Nations failure.

Others I'm too lazy to list.

Warren Harding was pretty corrupt. He deserves an honorable mention.

I see Jimmy Carter is getting his usual bashing in this poll by people who think history started in 1960 and that the worst thing to happen in our history was oil prices going up, a recession, and the hostage crisis in Iran...

If the United States is a village in the global polity, as the socialists like to claim, Carter was the village idiot. Just plain too damn stupid to excel at anything except being stupid. He has a rival in the White House today, though.

I put Carter in for grins and giggles, but seriously, Dude's clearly a bigoted hypocrite, but hey who isn't? and...for being as old as he is his ego is still pretty large.

Standard for Village Idiots.

My question is: When is that village in Kenya going to recall their idiot? We really want them to take him back, before the US is indistinguishable from Kenya.

Well, that's the other reason I didn't put Obama on the list, still waiting for that case to go to court LOL

I'm surprised Herbert Hoover's name isn't on the list.

Well, give us the run down on why you nominate Hoover. Perhaps if we get some good nominations I'll redo the Poll and we can really get to the bottom of this.

What?? What's so bad about the 17th or 19th Amendments? Both of these were positive steps toward democracy.

I can see where you might disagree with the 16th, but the other two Amendments no American can deny that these were changes that were for the better.

Don't tell me you are a closet birther.

Yeah, stupid bitches don't deserve to vote! They need to get their pregnant asses back in the kitchen, right Scarecrow?
(P.S. Are you aware that the president has absolutely no role whatsoever in the constitutional amendment process?)

Created the Federal Reserve, which caused the Great Depression.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, do you?

And who are these women lecturers anyway? Stupid chicks shouldn't be talking in public, it's just not becoming of women!

Susan B. Anthony is responsible for the abortion of thousands, nay MILLIONS, of Sammiches in this Country and to the misuse (or no use!) of kitchens all cross this Great Land. Now it's "Suffering After Suffrage!" because I have not see SAMMICH 1 since these women started voting!

Man, why be people so quiet on Lucy Stone's lectures? That was her role, ya dig? :p

You make a good point, and, accounting for inflation on the value of looks, I'd say she's 20 times hotter than Susan B. Now, I would not have tapped it, but I would have at least stayed and listened to her speeches.
