with the exception of the ridiculous "silencing dissenting views", all theose issues mentioned are priorities. did you want them ranked?

Oh, do let's. First, let's focus on the items on the list that are inside the scope of his Constitutional duties.

Immigration (I think ya mean "illegal invasion", right?)

The War on Terror (damn people, did you forget the Messiah Team retired that phrase in favor of something like "Playing PattiCake With Master's Pal's")

Unemployment ( his, or Americans?)

Regulating Wall Street (only to the extent that fraud is punished, not to the point of dictating pay scales)

So much for what he's allowed to do. Let's move on to what he's not allowed to do but is doing anyway:

Climate Change (So, I told you people you think He's God, and now you're insisting he can control the weather.)

Silencing dissenting views (he's a socialist, it's what they do. May as well as a rattle snake to be quiet).

Education (mmmm,mmmm,mmmm sums that up.)

Health Care (Only the Left refuses to see the irony in the term "government efficiency".)

Gay/Lesbian Rights (They have the same rights as everyone else, under the Cosntitution. they don't deserve anything special, do they?)

Gaining International Support (Make happy with the old buds from the madrassa, watch the Russians slap the US in the face...repeatedly. Foreign policy is supposed to be done to gain US advantage, not give it away.)

Upholding his oath to "support and defend the constitution" would be nice. Ooops, he already broke that oath. Perhaps he should resign.

"Conventional" terrorism killed 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001.

But that was an anomaly. They haven't killed that many people anywhere else in the world, before or since. The average attack kills far less.

I wonder how many people in the developed world are victims of terrorism in an average year? Probably a couple hundred at most. Not exactly the kind of issue to spend an inordinate amount of resources worrying about.

Regulating Wall Street. The stimulus didn't do that. It just threw money into a barrel and left the holes in it. Without such regulation the economy is just going to tank again, in which case none of the other issues will matter.

You forgot "Finding a family dog" Thats what it was for about 5 months this year anyway.

I had to vote War on Terror, because his resignation letter wasn't provided as an option.

Although that was tragic, how many die annually from something as simple as the flu? I think putting all the money we have spent on the wars into healthcare for US citizens would have saved many more lives.

Re: What should be President Barack Obama's top priority?

This was meant to be kind of an experiment and didn't turn out at all as I had expected. First of all, sorry for spelling his name wrong. Second of all, I am almost as ashamed of my conservative friends here as I am predictably shaking my head at my liberal opponents. I'll explain why after I give my rankings as someone suggested in the thread.

I personally voted for 1. Unemployment. So far it's ranked third, but I would imagine that if this poll was put to the American people it would be first place (but that's just a guess). I think that lowering taxes on business, especially small business, is how to tackle this problem. I think it is a huge priority because everyone in this country loses if unemployment continues to rise, not just those laid off, because of the economic destruction it would wreak on this country.

Here are the rest of my rankings:
2. The War on Terror - Including protecting ourselves from an almost certain EMP Pulse attack that only requires a Scud missile and the simplest nuclear bomb.
3. Health Care - This is a priority that can be inexpensively solved by allowing purchasing across state lines, moving away from work providing it, etc. (i.e. deregulation).
4. Regulating Wall Street - I hope nobody forgets that we Republicans tried twice to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac (necessarily, I hope everyone agrees) and were shut down by the democrats.
5. Education - We need to disband the ridiculous Department of Education, stop the failed No Child Left Behind program, and find a way to reward teachers and schools on performance.
6. Immigration - I am in favor of a partial amnesty (I know, crazy huh?) as well as new controls put in place for inviting and tracking immigrants for English learning, dependency, and crime.
7. Gaining International Support - The tides have turned where many of our European friends are moving in a conservative direction (look at recent comments and legislation).
8. Climate Change - Although a minimal threat, the new book Super Freakonomics has some inexpensive solutions to this issue.
9. Gay/Lesbian Rights - As others have mentioned, they do already share all rights possessed by me, they just want the government to condone their relationships (and silence free speech).
10. Silencing Dissenting views - This is a misnomer. Everyone should know (especially here at DP) that the way to combat bad speech is with better speech.

The reason that I am ashamed of those that have posted that call themselves conservatives is of the relentless calls for Obama to resign. That's not going to happen. He is the President of the United States. Let's work on getting responsible Republicans in the House, Senate, and elected as governors.

What should be President Barak Obama's top priority?

I'd like to see him affect some resolution to this war, whether that be through "winning" it or just ending it.
I'm no economist, but I can't help thinking that would improve the economy considerably.

The only two issues he should even be involved in is the War on Terror and Unemployment, because he either doesn't have the constitutional authority or he just shouldn't be messing with the other ones.

The War on Terror

I had this as a very close second.

I selected unempolyment only because it (imo) will directly affect more americans short term while the war on terror is something that may take dacades to resolve (if ever).

Why bother? They morph to the middle or worse as soon as they get there.

"I'll be back"

There is no two party system. They are the same yahoos bought and paid for by the global bankers. Anyone that ignores what they say and watches what they do realizes that.

Replacing Biden with Ron Paul and resigning?

So I guess since that is the case, a 4% deficit as the worst under Bush (and definitely too high) is the same as a12% deficit currently under Obama? I know that Republicans, just like anyone with power, got complacent over the years, but that's not where we are now. Remember what happened when the Republicans took over under the Clinton administration, and what they did to spending then?

The War on Terror

Of all the things on the list, and of the few that has anything to do with what the government is -supposed- to do, this is the most pressing issue.

While we waste our money and energy on overseas wars, which can never be won and will never stop terrorism in our country, the real problems in our country such as umemployment, healthcare, and selling ourselves to the Chinese in the form of the national debt are growing larger and will eventually cripple our great nation. Open your eyes America and stop fooling yourselves. If we pulled out of both Iraq and Afghanistan today what impact would it really have on our Nation? Seriously, what do you actually believe will happen?

Obviously its silencing dissenting views. He does that and the rest can fall into place. ;)

A U.S. president can never have a "top" priority.

That's a silly statement.

Winning whatever war we're in, that's the top priority of the Prez, others are secondary.

If we were fighting other wars other than optional wars I might agree with you.

The president hasn't the luxury of prioritizing the needs of this country and the free world. At most, the day determines his priority. It all comes at him at high speed and without mercy. A silly statement would be to pretend that one folder ever sits upon the President's desk.

And by the way...."winning" isn't something understood anymore in Washington. The biggest problem isn't even our weak politicians. It's the American people who watch TV and dictate the outcomes. The vets of WWII had it easy.
