Umm... it was a joke based on his name "whitebread."

I already suspected that it was, but it still warranted a defense, it was an easy case to present :2razz:

So, I hear he was pretty white bread. Do you think he was a member of the KKK with an axe to grind against black folks?

OK

More blanket statements.

And even though tons of evidence saying otherwise exist in the thread, you say I am wrong and religion is the base motivation for all attempts at moral legislation.

I know many non-religious people at this site that would laugh at that.

You stated your opinion....I disagree....Kinda the point of debates, eh?

This is opinion....not fact:
Religion had nothing to do with drug criminalization, nothing at all.

As I stated before the evidence posted in this thread alone says it is a fact. Religion had nothing to do with the beginnings of the drug war.

You can ignore the evidence if you like, but denial based on nothing, is still nothing.

The point of debate is to back up your opinion with facts. You are not doing this.

Yes I am.....Your are claiming an opinion is a fact....It isn't...no matter how many may share that opinion.(years ago the popular opinion was that the world was flat)
What motivated the legislators to write anti-drug laws is a complex socio-economic-religious mix that you can deny exists...but that doesn't make your opinion fact.

No. I am claiming my opinion is backed up by fact. Yours is not. You made a sweeping generalization that is not true in all cases. The evidence presented by ALL SIDES thus far say you are mistaken.

What motivated the legislators to write anti-drug laws is a complex socio-economic-religious mix that you can deny exists...but that doesn't make your opinion fact.

Then posts some evidence to back up your opinion. Mine is supported by the evidence in this thread you are choosing to ignore.

So far no debate exists because you are trying to say since it is opinion it cannot be wrong or right. This is absolutely wrong.

My "Evidence" is simple common sense. If your position is that legislators are not humans....& do not write & pass legislation based on their entire life experience (Including religion)...then you are entitled to that opinion.
I say legislators ARE human & motivated by a complex mix of (often competing) experiences, biases & prejudice.

So again you have no evidence.

Thats all you really had to say.

Thanks

No evidence needed when common sense covers it. ;)

Let's not :beatdeadhorse

We've both made our points...Time to move on.

Then admit you can't prove your point and move on. Common sense covers some things but not blanket statements that are more bigotry than fact.

Then again I am asking you for evidence, why even bother.

Here's the topic again:

KKK Started The War On Drugs

I'm going back to it .....Scoring debate points is a topic down the hall. (3rd door on your left)

Except a decent portion of the people who use this notion of racism influencing drug policy forget that it is not really apart of the problem in this era.
