The right end of the political spectrum has gotten worked up lately, more worked up and agitated than I can remember people getting in a long time. My fear is this: imagine that Obama gets health care reform through congress. We have people at town hall meetings, one of our oldest democratic traditions, shouting out congressmen. We have people bringing guns to political events (that aren't even gun related), and going on about the blood of tyrants. When I see how much hatred and anger is on the far right at this moment, it makes me scared that if they don't get their way they might turn violent. We're talking about violence on a scale larger than a few nuts here and there. Does anyone else see the same thing happening?

Nah, I got no worries. People feel strongly about the issue, but only the very furthest fringe element would even consider violence, and they are a worry any time.

The issue has aroused passion and strong debate, but I can't see any widespread violence. In fact, its pretty silly to even suggest that it's possible. The right wing is no more volitile than the left.

Maybe some fringe group somewhere might try something, but both sides have whacko fringe groups and they are not at all represenative of their respective causes.

I dunno. This seems different somehow. I can't put my finger on it, but people on the right seem more riled up, more angry, more itching for a fight. I mean, when in the recent past did you have people shouting out town hall meetings or bringing guns to presidential rallies? It seems to me that the right is trying to intimidate people that disagree. And if intimidating doesn't work, what's next?

Dude you need to integrate with people more, than to worry about statements like that.
My thought about violence in the streets will be if we start having terrorist attacks around the country, like malls, schools, hospitals, refinery's,power plants, fresh water plants.
Or if our economy takes a severe dump and people can't feed their family's.

I don't think they will get violent. Like Medicare and other legislation in the past, a good number of people objected but no one tried to over throw the government or riot.

But you didn't have people acting like they are now.

It won't be violent. People have no stomach for revolt.

Any violence will be blown out of proportion. Hobo, I think the media has you thinking it's bigger than it really is.

I don't see why, if they'll try intimidation now, they won't try more violent intimidation later.

The crazy fringe might. But I don't think the bringing of guns to town halls is ubiquitous.

maybe I'm just a bit paranoid of the militia types.

If the country's economy goes so far down the crapper that people can't afford cable TV and internet, then you may see revolution. I don't see that happening though.

No, but this is year 1, we have more than 3 more to bust up some faces.

That they are idiots?

Actually excessing a constitutional right that this administration is trying to destroy, but thanks for your insightful commentary

I think there maybe a full-scale Teabagger revolt if Healthcare is passed...but it depends on the bill. If it's watered down and the right-wing radio guys don't complain too much, then there will be peace.

Which constitutional right is this administration trying to destroy? Please provide evidence of this.

So you protest health care reform because of the second amendment?

No, they won't get violent. Most of them will bitch and moan for a couple more months, then they'll find some other issue to bitch and moan about. Ten years from now, not only will most of those town hall wackos SUPPORT the reforms, but Republican politicians will be demagogue-ing about the Big Bad Democrats trying to TAKE AWAY those reforms, just like they're doing with Medicare now.

The right to bear arms? Or do you so off handedly throw out insults you no longer remember those you are criticizing...

Read the original post before throwing criticism as you so enthusiastically do. PLEASE try to deny the current administration is trying to destroy the 2nd amendment. It is another form of protest, something I thought liberals understood.

What proof have you offered that he is destroying the 2nd Amendment? Please link me to the legislation.

How come conservatives aren't protesting that? Will they bring thermometers and stethoscopes to those protests when they do?
