I know a lot of football fans, and many are like me. I'm happy Vick got a team. He spent near 2 years in prison, went bankrupt, he paid his dues. The NFL tacked on some extra suspension for his actions, and when that's up; it's done. I think he is reformed in that he'll never again be part of dog fighting. Hell, didn't PETA even say that Vick has done a good job in reformation and in his service to them? It's done and over. He didn't DUI kill someone, he did his jail time; it's over. I think he deserves a second chance and the opportunity to show that he has changed and will improve his personal behavior. Good for him I say. I don't really like Philly in general, but the Eagles are going to give him a chance and that's fine by me. I'm not going to be down on the guy now, maybe if he does something again in the future I can agree with stiffer penalties. But for the time being, he's done all that he needed to do and does seem honestly remorseful over what he did.

I hope that he can get back into the game and show that he still has some good years of competition ahead of him.

What a clever comeback! (this chick, eh?)

(If your anger is that close to the surface, what are you like when a subject of any real importance is discussed?)

I only hope you don't have a firearms permit.

I would not boycott. Vick is a great athlete and a less than stellar human being. When I watch sports, I do not watch because the people playing are great human beings. I watch because they are great athletes and they entertain me.

What I find interesting is a hockey player punches a cab driver, and it is a really big deal to the fanbase. A football player and that would not even be blinked at. I think it is kinda sad.

I never said he paid his debt. I said

"May well have"..... is a qualifier by which I meant some people may think he paid his debt. I don't.....& I do indeed think the Eagle franchise should pay a monetary penalty for....stupidity if nothing else. (why offend a potentially significant number of fans by signing such a controversial player who wasn't that good in the first place??)

What's the man got to do to get a second chance? See Ikari's post for details.

He does have a second chance. He is out of jail and has all the same options, and more, as most ex-cons. I just don't think it is a good idea for a sports franchise to put some one like him on TV. He still would have more options than most ex-cons...he has 2 years of college education after all.

Are you not a ditsy chick?

I absolutely have a concealed carry permit and I not yet shot anyone that didn't deserve it. ;)

Perhaps a "creature" that promoted, and made Money on the slaughter of animals has learned his lesson. That could happen. I believe him too Ikari.:doh

I have no problem with Vick playing football. Yes I’m a dog, cat, and horse lover, as I currently own several of them. However, he’s paid his debt to society and he seems to to be genuinely humbled and apologetic for his errors. It’s time to let bygones be bygones and to let him move on with his life.

Hey, there's Money to be made. Why not hire a pervert that kills animals for "sport" and Money? The City of Philly does it all the time.

Said in all "Brotherhood".

I believe in actions, we'll see what he does. But from everything I've read and seen, he appears sincerely remorseful and will continue to work with organizations such as the Humane Society to promote better environments for animals.

Lots of people f up, lots of people do things that maybe we on the outside say "well that's common sense", and lots of people can come back from those things; learn lessons and live a good life while making amends for what they have done. I'm not going to get on the "bash Vick" bandwagon because he served his time, he paid his dues, he seems like he really understands what he did wrong and is willing to make amends for that. If he carries through with it, great. If he ****s up again, well he ain't gonna get much sympathy from people. But I ain't god, I'm not perfect, I've messed up. And I'd like to think that if I've done something really bad that I could learn from those mistakes, pay my dues, and be allowed to carry on with my life a wiser and more proactive man on the issue. So say whatever you want, but you don't know what Vick has been through and you seem unwilling to give him the shot. I'll wait and see how he carries on, but I'm happy to see that he is getting his second chance.

Vick says he has to live with 'shame' and 'embarrassment'

Nope, he didnt do anything that outrageous, he served his time he deserves to his livelyhood.

Making money off killing,,,while promoting the slaughter of animals. I want him as my next door Neighbor.

**** that. I want this mans testicles on a silver platter. He should suffer eternal torment akin to Prometheus except with dogs rather than an eagle.

Are you talking about the guys who make burgers or Leather jackets?

Nope, just the "guys" that kill dogs for financial gain, and a sick perversion. Let me know if anyone actually "ate" the aftermath. The Bastard didn't kill for food.

Agreed?

What's the man got to do to get a second chance? See Ikari's post for details.

No way he desrves a 2nd chance in my book. Any adult who derives pleasure from inflicting pain & death on defenseless animals is just one small step away from a serial killer in my eye. (if you look into the history of the most vile sadists, they almost all began by getting their rocks off killing animals first.
Sorry, I don't believe in 2nd chances for sex offenders or sadists.

IMO, the only thing Michael Vick is sorry for is....getting caught!

well thanks for the arm chair psychology lesson. What are your creditials in psychology and psychoanalysis?

IMO, the only thing Michael Vick is sorry for is....getting caught!
The evidence Ikari posted seems to refute that. What is your evidence? arm chair psychologist theorizing?

But its possible its all a ploy. Only time will tell.

The answer for both your questions is that I have a brain & am capable of independent logical thought.
Can either of us PROVE our opinion is right? No
Why should we accept your opinion over mine, which BTW......seems to have yours beat by a roughly 2 to 1 result in the poll?

& a self-serving statement released by Vick himself can hardly be called EVIDENCE.....More like a defendant's plea for mercy.

Beyond Vick is the motivation for the Eagles franchise itself & why they deserve to be punished financially:
Does anyone here seriously want to argue the case that the Eagles motive (in signing Vick) was simply a humanitarian effort to help with his rehabilitation?
Of course it wasn't! It's a shameless effort to increase their profits!

in other words, you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to the psychology of sadists and sexual deviants but you think Vick fits the info you skimmed through while reading a news article. Thanks for acknowledging that your opinions on the matter are an lamateurs opinion at best.

I'm not the one claiming Vick is an incurable sadist. I'm not ignorant enough to make claims I can't backup without prefixing with "in my opinion" or "to the best of my knowledge".

Why should we accept your opinion over mine,
because mine has evidence!

argumentum ad populum. I see now the caliber of person I am dealing with.

The insane asylum known as PETA are even withholding judgement. What's that say about your position?
