Do you believe that opposition to Obama is mostly based on his race

Is opposition to Obama mostly due to his race?

Wow, I was unaware we had so many race baiting fools on this forum.

Liberal tactics 101. If you can't win the argument based on facts, resort to name calling. It was never about race, and isn't now, unless you are an angry democrat and have nothing left to stand on. This happened during the election and now that Obama's numbers are slipping and more people oppose Obamacare than support it, race is brought up again as a tactic because there are no facts to support their stance anymore. It's really, really pathetic isn't it?

Truth.

In fact, I would say they make a quarter wit.

Edit: You see, when doing wit math, you must use multiplication.

So, 2 half wits = 1/2 wit X 1/2 wit = 1/4 wit = A quarter wit.

Simple math.

and that is the problem in a nutshell, they MULTIPLY....
Anybody for forced sterilization of halfwits?:2razz:

What, you have never heard of a republican calling names?
Karl Rove is a master of manipulation when it comes to getting the
"right" to accept labeling the left...

I wish I had a dollar for every right wingnut who used the term "tax and spend liberal" and another dollar for the left's failure to respond with "tax and spend is better than borrow and spend".
Both sides are taxing, borrowing, and spending....BOTH SIDES....

But in this specific instance, it is the left bringing race into an equation that it wasn't in to begin with. See the difference?

Now, go to Free Republic -- yikes!

On another Conservative leaning board -- the opposition is 50/50, partisan/racial. But I'm not saying Free Republic or this other board are representative of conservatives at all. I honestly don't know. I'd say most of the racial stuff comes from the far-right. It's disappointing to see several people on Fox fueling that--Beck very overtly, others more subtle.

I wasn't aware of it at first, but over the past sixth months, I've encountered a number of people who think Obama's victory is all about white guilt. They see every appointment or nomination of a person of color by Obama as affirmative action--an under-qualified person getting a leg up because of their skin color. This is pretty disturbing since the people they're referring to are highly qualified and accomplished professionals.

I guess the first thing we notice about a person is the color of their skin, then what they're wearing and how they talk and act. We all make judgements pretty quick in our daily lives -- it's just odd, for example, when Obama names his new pick for surgeon general to see people not even bother to check her extensive credentials before making assumptions about Obama's reasons for picking her. Again, that really doesn't go on here at DP. But I encounter it enough to know it exists in certain places.

It is coming from the right for now. Lets go back and look at the seething far left during the Bush years. The names Colin Powell and Condolisa Rice were called on a daily bases. At least no one has called Obama a "house nigger" yet.

It is fair to say both sides use race when convenient.

but Obama is the H.N.I.C.

Yessir, Yes it certainly is pathetic.

Use of the race card at all times is pathetic, and so is the person who uses it.

Problem is, liberals have a tendency to use the race card FOR others, which is why blacks have this sort of 'looked down upon' thing going on in the US.

"Awww, poor black people, we'll give them affirmative action."

To all those who voted "yes":

What are you thinking? Do you honestly believe that the MAJORITY of opposition to Obama has to do with his race? We all know there will be a handful of racists against him, but the majority? 51% + of the opposition is only against him for being black?

I don't think so. That is the most illogical and idiotic thing I have ever read on this board, even more ridiculous than the 9/11 truthers.

Anyone who buys into the stereotype that most conservatives are racist bigots has absolutely no mental capacity for intelligent, reasonable, and rational thought. Obama's policies and programs clash with many conservative principles, and to say that the main reason conservatives disagree with him is because he is black is flat out ignorant, if not deceptive and dishonest.

I'm glad to see the poll results, it gives me a chance to look and, at a glance, see who on DP was born with no cerebellum. Most of the "yes" voters were no surprise at all; one was someone I really thought had better sense though.

His posts, especially of late, seem to me to be those of someone that has become very bitter.

I say YES to the question. Most opposition to Obama is racially based, & yes...I truly believe that.

Most Americans are not racists, & more voters voted for Obama then voted for McCain.
The question is aimed at the opposition to Obama & yes, I feel that tghe core of it is indeed race based. Oh, the far right racists will find 10 million reasons they will CLAIM why they don't like Obama: His economic policies, his use of diplomcy, his HC reform ideas...etc

These, IMO are just dodges & as Senator DeMint honestly said, the right wants to "Break" Obama & I believe it is mainly racists thinking.

Is it possible to not be a racist & dislike Obama's policies? ...Of course!

Do I think that is most often the case with anti Obama people? Not on your life. I think it is mainly racist.

Hmmm. Well, I think it's most often the case that the people who say "most" opposition is "mainly racist" are simply trying to avoid having to defend him against criticism on substantive grounds.

So much easier just to wave your arm and say "oh, they're just a bunch of racists," eh?

No evidence exist to support this position. I would say this is as bad as the birthers movement.

This comment pretty much says your original comment is unfounded.

It's funny to watch white people play the race card based on nothing.

How about this. Maybe they just don't like his policy's much like Bill Clinton, who faced as much opposition.

And I feel people who have come to such a ridicules conclusion are just stupid, much like 9/11 conspiracy theorists and birthers.

There is plenty of readily available evidence on which to support a belief of racism. To PROVE it??....Probably not. But evidence to support a strong belief? ..You know there is. Google it yourself.

And I feel that people who close their minds completely, & label ideas they disagree with as "Ridiculous" are the stupid ones & arrogant & quite secure in their stupidity.:thumbdown

Can this argument work the other way around?

Bush was not very popular and criticised amongst African Americans and other minorities, a good percentage of them voted against him.
Was it just because he was white? o_O

Provide it yourself. That's how it works.

You being one of the most closed-minded people on this board, you probably have good grounding on that.

You made the claim not I. You need to put up evidence or tell the truth that it is nothing more than your opinion backed up by nothing. I have seen no evidence at all to support your claim.

Until you can put up some real evidence, you can yell to the mountains and it makes your unfounded claim no less absurd.

Man, oh man are we still on this kick?? Lemme tell you! I don't give a sh!t if Obama were green with yellow polka dots. Most people that disagree with him base it on policy not race!! And I will ask once again. If Obama were a Conservative Republican going against a Liberal who is a lilly-white male, would you still support Obama??

Translation: If one disagrees with the official Liberal Democrat platform, one is stupid?? Gotcha!

Here are just a few bits of racism aimed at Obama that are quite enough to prove that a "Belief" (that most opposition against Obma is rcially motivated) is quite warranted:

Racist Attacks on Obama Growing More Heated | Hatewatch | Southern Poverty Law Center

Inland GOP mailing depicts Obama's face on food stamp | Inland News | PE.com | Southern California News | News for Inland Southern California

War on Racism: Threats Against Obama Growing as Inauguration Nears

Racist Incidents Give Some Obama Campaigners Pause - washingtonpost.com

Just a few quick links to show that my belief is well grounded in evidence. To label my belief as ridiculous is.........ridiculous!....& arrogant.

Don't twist the argument to one where you expect me to PROVE my belief, which I don't claim is PROOF. It certainly clears the bar for a belief based on evidence, however.

"Quite enough" for someone dead-set on believing that most opposition to Obama is racist, I'm sure.

Well, well. Looks like Devil is too afraid to answer my question.

Well, well. Looks like Devil is too afraid to answer my question.

Your question is ridiculous but I will answer it anyway. I would support anyone, of any race or party who favors Obama's agenda/ideas for change......... & I would oppose anyone who wants to defeat his vision for changes desperately needed in this country.

Does this mean some liberals disliked condoleezza because she was a woman and/or black (as opposed to her being a conservative)

Well, well. Looks like Devil is too afraid to answer my question.

You have to remember that he thinks anyone opposed to Obama's agenda is genuinely evil (or stupid). He's made that quite clear.

The ones who called her a "house slave" probably had it in their minds, sure.
