Based on what?
Being a black man and attending many, many black churches while growing up and as an adult I can honestly say that really is not true. Calling for the destruction of America and the White race are not typical of any Christian church, be it black or white.
Reverend Wright didn't call for the destruction of America or the white race. He mocked what he perceived to be prevailing attitudes among whites with relation to political privilege along with the perceived ironies in our country's claims to moral superiority in spite of a long string of perceived human rights abuses. He did say "God damn America" as a play on the common phrase "God bless America", but there are multiple dimensions of meaning to that. That's about the closest he came to calling for the destruction of America. About whites; he stated we had some attitude problems when it comes to social justice and politics. In very strong terms, but hardly a call for destruction. Anyway, if pressed, I doubt he would insist that all whites fall under the category he disdains; but impassioned sermons don't accommodate particulars and exceptions.
Note -- perceived. This isn't about what I think, and I don't want to make it about what I think.
