Let me rephrase. What type of government do you see us moving into if live continues relatively peaceful and no apocalyptic disasters occur to destroy the federal government?

I dont. I see it as more or less the way it is, until it collapses.
 
What are your thoughts?

I think with the current technology it is possible for the populace to create and collaborates on policy and decisions directly on all levels of government.However I do not see that happening.I see the government slowly and incrementally trying to strip away constitutional rights while the public watches idiot reality and tv shows or get absorbed into sports or some other useless activity instead of paying attention to what the government is doing. Of course that is already happening.
