Hi All,

Just wonder how many of us actually use any form of Mass Transet be it the Bus systrem,Train,Light Rail or Rail.

I my self use the Rail system to get to and from work I live in Baltimore and ride the train to DC everyday. In general I try to us the Mass system if I can.

PS Mods could you add the poll for some reason it didn't work

I take Metro every single day. I live within walking distance of the station, so to get to and from work, I do not have to do any driving. It's fantastic.

Okay, I feel a little sick. There was a terrible train wreck on the Red Line on Monday (June 22) at 5pm. 9 people were killed and over 70 people were injured. 9 Killed, 76 Injured in Deadliest Disaster in Metro History|ABC 7 News Scorpion saying he comes into DC from the rail system means he uses the Red Line. He has not been back here since the morning of the train wreck. Scorpion, let us know you're okay. I'll feel better.

Okay, I feel better. They listed the names all nine people who were killed in the accident in today's Washington Post, and none of them live in Baltimore.

I'll Use the subway when it's convienent, or it looks like traffic will suck.

Usually though I use a car service when in the city.

I think a lot of it has to do with one's perception.

For instance...I have a car, but prefer to use mass transit because I feel that it "frees" me up. I don't have to look for parking and pay the exhorbitant prices downtown LA, I can get off the subway...go to happy hour in Hollywood, not have to worry about DUI...and I can read or sleep rather than fighting all the other crazy drivers on the road.

Friends of mine who have used mass transit their entire lives...when they get a car....feel free and liberated.

I just don't understand where they are coming from.

Mass transit does not run on the Good Reverend's schedule and therefore is not the optimal choice.

Exactly. It's no good if you have to be somewhere at a particular time, which is extremely common, if you have to bring any sizable load there or back with you, like the 20 bags of groceries I got earlier today, or if you need your car available to go somewhere quickly (ie. you can't take the bus to work if you ever need your car while there), etc. Public transportation simply doesn't work for the majority of people who live normal lives.

How many people are you feeding for how long to have 20 bags of groceries?

Ever since the electronic porn box broke, he has had to resort to going old school for it.:2razz::2razz:

I dunno, dude. Josh and I average about 4-5 bags of groceries for two weeks.

20 bags is a lot of stuff.

That feeds a family of 4 for just over a week. Doesn't help when they use cheap plastic bags that break if they put any kind of load in them so you get twice as many bags, filled half as full, as you normally would.

True. That would amount to 10 bags and I have 5 to feed 2 so you would have 10 to feed 4.

I like to go into Whole Foods, and tell them to double bag it and paper in plastic. Assholes!

I use only public transport. Walking, cycling, trains/trams and buses are my way of getting around London and UK/France etc.
I never bothered to even learn how to drive for that reason, no need to bother.

But the main drawback is trade unions, when they decide to strike. Boy, oh boy do they hold London to ransom for their demands seeing they have the power of bringing London to a standstill.
