I don't think it would be relevant or mean much. But that is just me.
 
I don't want the basement at all, but a "thanks" button would be stupid there.

Maybe a "u got pwned, bitch" button would be more appropiate.

If we put in a button, it should be "This person spends too much time in the basement" button

The idea is that threads are sent there because they are out of line. Adding a thanks button can be rewarding or endorsing trolling etc....

That was your original intent, yes, but the Basement has grown to the point where flushing threads is a secondary purpose at best.

There are many threads now which are only in the Basement due to their adult content, not because a civil thread went south.

At least 2 of the Basement's sub forums are more like brawl rooms in a Tavern.....

As many times as I have wanted to thank someone in the basement, I don't think it's feasible. The basement is what the basement is, a place to smack the hell out of someone without garnering infraction points. The Thanks button serves a purpose, but upstairs.

In addition to my own opinion on the matter, I don't think it's even possible from a software standpoint. Vauge might have researched this further (or not), but I don't believe vB will even allow you to run two separate "Thanks" systems at the same time. I can see errors popping up all over the place.

Personally I think a "Thumbs Down" "No Thanks" button should be enacted for posts upstairs.
 
I lived in Topeka, Kansas for a couple years. My basement was warm in winter and cool in summer but most of all was where you slept during tornado season. :lol:
