With all the stuff that is happening, Obama grabbing power, the nationalization of business, the allowance of Acorn to take money from the fed that has just passed the house, the Fair speech act, the massive spending, the expansion of government, the appointment of czars who have no congressional oversight, the desire to build a civilian military equally as powerfull, trained and armed as the U.S. Military and all the other stuff that is going on in our government, does it make you scared or at least give you pause to the possibility that our way of life, that freedom and property are on the verge of extinction?

You need to clarify a bunch of those.

Does Fair Speech Act = Fairness Doctrine?

How is ACORN taking money from the Fed? I cannot find anything on it.

Which Czars?

What civilian military?

You make a lot of claims, but do not source any of them, and some are pretty far out.

I guess my answer could be misinterpreted. Being scared and believing that the recent changes may lead us down an undersirable path, are in my case, two different things.

Yes I appoligize, I mean the fairness doctrine.

Acorn

Are you serious you have not heard of Obamas czars?!
Byrd Calls Obama's Czars Dangerous | Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Robert Byrd, the longest serving senator in history, criticized President Obama's appointment of numerous White House advisors, also called "czars," saying the presence of the czars gives the president too much power.

These czars report directly to Mr. Obama and have the power to shape national policy on their subject area. So far, Mr. Obama has recruited czars on health reform, urban affairs policy, and energy and climate change. Unlike Cabinet secretaries, they do not have to be approved by Congress.

In a letter to Obama on Wednesday, Byrd, a Democrat, said that the czar system "can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances," Politico reported. Byrd added that oversight of federal agencies is the responsibility of officials approved by the Senate.

"As presidential assistants and advisers, these White House staffers are not accountable for their actions to the Congress, to cabinet officials, or to virtually anyone but the president," Byrd wrote. "They rarely testify before congressional committees, and often shield the information and decision-making process behind the assertion of executive privilege. In too many instances, White House staff have been allowed to inhibit openness and transparency, and reduce accountability."

Byrd has been a longtime critic of policies that concentrate power in the executive branch. He often fought with the Bush Administration and Wednesday's letter shows that he doesn't mind going after a president from his own party.

These days, however, Byrd’s comments have less force as he is no longer the chairman of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee.

American Thinker: Obama's Civilian National Security Force

Well, alot of things to go over.

Fairness doctrine: Not coming back. Source: FactCheck.org: Is the fairness doctrine coming back, and would it shut down conservative talk radio?

And last month, an Obama spokesman told FoxNews.com that the president wasn't interested in reviving the fairness doctrine. "As the president stated during the campaign, he does not believe the Fairness Doctrine should be reinstated," spokesman Ben LaBolt told the Web site.

Note that factcheck is the best place to start with any claim, it is nonpartisan and well researched.

Acorn: hey, factcheck to the rescue again: FactCheck.org: Does the stimulus bill include a $5.2 billion payoff for ACORN?

The bill does include funds for which ACORN would be eligible to compete - against hundreds of other groups. But most is for a housing rehabilitation program ACORN says it never applied for in the past and won't in the future.

I did not say I had not heard of Czars, I asked which you don't like. What powers do they have you disapprove of?

Civilian military: Both your sources are from pre-election. No evidence I can find that President Obama has moved on them. Factcheck does have some information on the topic though: FactCheck.org: Is Obama planning a Gestapo-like "civilian national security force"?

Summary, the quotes are out of context. He was talking about expanding the Peace Corps and similar groups.

about the fairness doctrine, well well see but I have my doubts, sorry dont trust government.

About the stimulus and Acorn I will read the bill my self just to make sure.

about the czars, I dont like any of them, there is no federal oversight like there is whit the cabnet members. The czars answer only to Obama.

about his private military, ok I hope nothing happens, still worried though. But why would the peace corp need to be just as well trained and equiped as the U.S. military?

And lastly, my appoligizes, I have been listening to too much conservative radio, do you know any good liberal stations I can watch so I too can be re-educated/indoctrinated?

Avoid both. Try PBS, the Lehrer news hour is awesome. Factcheck.org is a wonderful resource as well, they debunk myths almost daily.

Just wanted to add. Right now we do not know how much federal funds are going to Acorn. The mailing address for acorn has over 200 other entities listed at that address. Many fear that federal funds will be given to many of these other entities, which in turn could end up in acorns hands.

This has already been adressed:

Lewis: We have not received neighborhood stabilization funds, have no plans to apply for such funds, and didn't weigh in on the pending rule changes.

ACORN has never applied for the funds, has no plans to apply for the funds, and would be highly unlikely to get them if they did. There is NO evidence that ACORN got penny one from the stimulus package.

Being scared does nothing.

I am aware of that and I never implied that they would. I wont condemn them for something not proven but I will say that I do not trust them and feel they should be investigated.

No fear. Same stuff different day.

I am more worried about the apathy and blatant stupidity run rampant in our population than anything President Obama can do. Besides President Obama at this point has done relatively little but talk and continue allot of President Bush's policies including the bailouts.

I try not to live my life in a constant state of rightwing media induced paranoia. But, thanks for asking. :2wave:

With all the stuff that is happening, Obama grabbing power

Started under Nixon.

, the nationalization of business

Started under Bush.

, the massive spending,
Needed to help stabilize our infarstructure and banks.

the expansion of government, the appointment of czars who have no congressional oversight,

Executive privilege, there is no limitations in the Constitution about the Presidents Staff or cabinet.

the desire to build a civilian military equally as powerfull, trained and armed as the U.S. Military

Evidence?

No stop listening Limbaugh.

I'm not scared, I expected as much out of Obama. Clinton-Bush-Obama....peas in a pod. We haven't had a decent President in quite some time.

If you are living your life in fear? You may as well kill yourself because that is not living.

No. I have more important **** to do with my time then be worried.

Being scared isn't a crime. It just means those who have enough bravery need to work harder and set a good role to follow.

Being scared isn't a crime.

Being scared into tolerating the intolerable is the crime of rank stupidity. That is a crime against nature, for which the sentence is invariably extinction.

No vote, of course..
If I were a fat wealthy Conservative/Republician............yes!
If I were a fat intelligent, non-wealthy Independent.......no!

If you're living in fear, then the pundits of the right have done their jobs!

Who would've known how powerful an influence Rovian-style fear mongering would have on this nation.

I'm only "afraid" because the press is shirking it's constitutionally mandated duty to work as a hedge against those in power and seems to desire more to fall in line behind our modern-day pied piper with the giddy smile, cute kids and golden throat.
