Will people ever truly unite?

I am speaking in that post to Flappy specific.

The religious people and the religion that I see as a danger to unity is that which needs to dominate and control. Personal religious view are really up to the person. As long as they can deal with the fact that I don't believe in their god and have no intention of doing so that is fine. I will not tell them not to believe.

The particular Commune that I belong to had disallowed religion of any kind. People do not need to join us. They have free will and can say no to that. In the future we can change that. It is always open to new ideas. If it changes it is up to me than to adapt.

Mankind has for thousands of years warred, enslaved, or suppresed due to ethnic and religious differences. We are a creation that often times have low tolerance for difference. While we try to believe that here in the US we have overcome such petty actions it is still here. We still set limits on what we will and will not except even if we fail to see it.

Do you believe we will ever achieve total acceptance of one another or do you believe we are better off throwing the idea of unity out the window and realize that we are better off segregating ourselves from one another?

Personaly I believe our ethnic and religious differences will always be a issue that we will never overcome. I never understood the need or reasoning for us to try to unify different societies into one big mass. In doing so we all lose a bit of what we were to become something we were not.

The answer is "No" because there are a lot of different religions, languages and mentalitys.
 
It would be pleasant if we united under liberty for all but, sadly, humans somehow take pleasure in finding differences and discriminating against such differences. If we were all purple, we surely find something else to hate.
