What you learned in high school is quite likely to be bull****

If you have anything specific you would like to debate, bring it. I will gladly wipe your pompous ass with my knowledge of American History.

We will start easy for you. A key concept of the revolution was "taxation without representation". This is not nearly the situation we have today, where every two years we vote for our representatives.

Those 40% do not include me. I am not concerned. I don't worry about such things. My karma is to in order. Things are looking good. If the worlds coffee supply holds out I will be in a good humor.

IMO that is nonsense. Why would a person waste time living in fear. I have better things to do.

Taxation without representation was a nice rally cry, but we never lived up to such a lofty standard, even after winning the war. Consent of the governed was the true cause of the revolution and is why we were not a pure democracy, but a representative republic. I hardly see how that can be claimed today.

Yeah, now we have even more taxation WITH representation.

How is that a benefit?

You do not think the fact that you can vote out those who represent you if you disagree, and vote in those you do agree with does not qualify? Are you really going to compare a situation where we had no voice in our governance, to the situation today?

What’s the we stuff? Property owners were the only ones with actual representation, but you did not have to be a property owner to pay excise taxes. So as I stated, even after winning the war, we didn’t honor the rally cry of taxation without representation.

The real foolishness though, is the thinking that all we wanted was a say. We went over a century acting like a sovereign nation. We didn’t fight to have representation, we fought because we had always governed ourselves.

If you really want the truth, and not the liberal bull**** you have been indoctrinated with, look up the 7 resolutions outlining the colonial position on the stamp act. They don’t even mention self representation, but they do mention self rule.

Leaving aside the debate, got a handy link? I am always fascinated to learn new things.

I have no voice in the gonvernance of this country.

Only when people I vote for get elected will my voice be heard.

I gave you more then enough keywords to google it.

If you really want to break free form the crap you think is true, spend some time at mises.org

Sorry, but I got to say this....

I feel much more comfortable that the people you vote for don't get elected.

I do still like ya though.

At some point, the only currency that will matter is ammunition.
When that happens, I'll be rich.

....the best part about this is that you're paranoid enough to think if it happens it'll happen in your lifetime.

Look at it as him supporting an industry. His paranoia is keeping ammunition makers in their jobs.

No... the -best- part is that if it does happen in your lifetime, you'll be among the first to be preyed upon.

I smell a drama queen with screwed up perceptions, personally.

The best part is how f'ing hilarious that quote is. Can't you just visualize him, bullets sliding through his fingers like gold coins?

p.s. I bet it's uncomfortable to sleep on piles of ammo. Just sayin'.

Not all that up on this sort of thing, are you?
Ammunition has been scarce and expensive for some time now due to incredible demand and limited production capacity -- none of which has anything to do with any degree of stockpiling by civilians.

It's official. Rabid gun owners are now one stop bellow Christian fundimentalitsts in their apocaliptic beliefs. Please come out of that movie? The real world is calling.

You have representatives. They are representing you. If you don't like them vote them out or campaign against them. Better yet run yourself. You have that right.

The best part is people like him would still prey on others, but they can’t cowardly do it from a ballot box like they are accustomed to.

Which somehow has nothing to do with what you quoted...

My wife and I just had a conversation last night about what North korea and what we would do if attacked. We currently live on the U.S. Navy's largest balistic missle base on the west coast, easily in range and deffinatly a neuclear target by any nation. We came up with a plan of what to do, where to take the children and how to get into contact with each other if seperated, thats all assuming were not dead first.

Ah... another shallow, meaningless response. Color me surprised.

It has everything to do with it -- the ammunition comapnies arent being kept in business by the the civilian market.

I prefer liberty over democracy.

Democracy allows for slavery, liberty does not.

Sometime in the future we will look back at the chain of events and see that much of what we do today is almost as bad as the slavery of the past. I’m proud to be on the right side of the issue, even if certain young punks only concerned with getting high laugh it off.
