I think she will still be a distraction the republicans continue to try and use.

Huh? We don't have to use her, she is serving the cause of Rational Society (see Conservatism,) by simply going about her business. All we need do is raise relevant issues from time to time and then get out of her way.

I suspect that it will eventually be the same for the President. After all, one cannot put someone with almost no qualifications whatever into such a position and not expect a farce, no?

How is she serving the cause, except by being a distraction on the torture issue?

She is providing an object lesson, especially to the young, of what happens when the Nation chooses leaders based upon emotionalism, pop-culture, the mood of the moment, and imaginary issues such as AGW, and "torture" of murderous thugs.

She is showing herself, and her ilk, to be little more than cardboard cutouts.

Young people can be pretty sharp, and tend to get very analytical, even judgmental of their elders at a certain point. Mrs. Pelosi is providing them with a practical education in unethical political posturing.

On top of that, I have some hope that her political implosion may help to make politics once again uninteresting to the uninformed strata of society.

Finally, she is providing us with much needed comic relief!

Nothing will happen. The libs that vote for her will find a pathetic excuse to ether ignore or forgive her hypocrisy and by the time she runs for office again the issue will be forgotten or it will be considered old news.

That should be quite enough for some time yet, unless she goes underground and the rest of the let's turn into US into a tin pot country that prosecutes the previous leaders nut jobs shut the hell up.

No one really thinks that will happen though, do they? ;)

I think you are seeing things through your preconceived notions. Your poll options alone portray you as a hyper-partisan(ie, the possible answers range from negative to insulting), and your answer to my question shows you are not thinking about this from a logical standpoint. So far the worst thing she has done in terms of the torture debate is give some answers of questionable veracity. Thing is, politicians get caught in lies all the time. I do not like it, but it's not like this is somehow going to topple her unless she does more than she has. All it does is give the republicans something to attack democrats on, which they would do any way.

I don't think there are more than a handful who want to see any one from President Bush's administration prosecuted, and I am very confident they will not get much popular or political backing for any such prosecutions.

I didn't find a description which fits.
I think she'll be in a stronger position as speaker. I don't think she's perfect. But she's getting flak because she's a woman in what heretofore has been a man's position. Many men resent women in positions of authority and power. Simple.

She will still be struggling to stay in office. It takes way more pressure then she is under to get a career politician out of office.

Horse hockey. She has been in that position for a while and she is getting flak now because she was stupid enough to try to play to the loonies and lie about what she knew and when she knew it.

I heard the Pelosi numbers are worse than Bush numbers when he left office. Great Nancy, you go girl!

Please. You believe that? Like the president and co. was going to brief Congress, "truthfully", and "comprehensively", so that they might throw a monkey wrench in the works. She said she wasn't briefed. Bob Graham said he wasn't briefed. I believe them. It ain't about Pelosi, no matter how it's "spun".

...imaginary issues such as AGW, and "torture" of murderous thugs.

Since 99% of the world's scientists agree there is man-made global warming,
and we have the documents proving Bushco approved torture of detainees,
it's would seem that it is people like you that are living in an imaginary world.

Oh yeah, forgot about Bob Graham. The CIA said he was there for, what 4 meetings?

Then he went back and showed where he was there for one, and the CIA agreed it had made a mistake.

That the cons here won't wait until the facts are cleared up speaks volumes.

I believe that Pelosi's problems are not because she is a woman. Her problem is she is out of the mainstream of the democratic party. Don't too many people feel bad for her in regards to the problems she is having with whether or not she was briefed. While I think the republicans have latched onto the problems she is having to distract from their own problems(lack of any actual cohesive platform for one), that does not mean I feel bad for her.

She has not done anything illegal, she is just politician_1002353864295000 caught lying. Next big scandal and every one will forget about her.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to call you out and have you back your 99% figure. And please restrict your figures to relevant physical science, no psychologists for instance.

While we're at it, please produce document references specifically approving of legally defined (by U.S. legal authorities only,) torture practices, especially as they relate to nonuniformed enemy combatants (who are traditionally given summary executions.)

Another waste of space poll.

You can have everything that Pelosi is accused of. Facts are that she is not who authorized waterboarding. She is not who tried to rewrite the law to make an illegal act appear legal. Pelosi will still be Speaker while Cheney, and probably others, are fighting to stay out of jail.

Dat's da facts, Jack.

She isn't getting flak because she is a woman. She is getting flak because she is is a hypocrite. She had no problem with the water boarding terrorist until a bunch of *****fist(*****+pacifist, yeah I know its just sticking two synonymous words together) started whining how we were mistreating the poor wittle terwowist. Then she jumped on the waterboarding is torture short bus to toss the salad of these *****fist for cheap votes. This is no different than any other politician who switches sides on a hot button issue for cheap votes.

Politicians lie about their positions on certain issues for cheap votes all the time and some even slander troops for cheap votes and people in their own district as means of trying to guilt them into voting for a certain candidate and they still get re-elected to office. Voters in general have a short memory or a short attention span when it comes to politics and there is the fear that the other person can do a lot more damage than the candidate they have now.

*****fist(*****+pacifist, yeah I know its just sticking two synonymous words together)

Why do you feel the need to insult those who think differently than you?

Thank you for so eloquently illustrating the Leftist Mindset!

In other words, a poll which sparks extensive discussion of the issues is a "waste of space" to the Leftist, who believes that Lesser Mortals should accept what they are told by their Collectivist Betters with acclamation and alacrity, and never with analysis and healthy skepticism.

You are a credit to your kind. Are you perhaps a clone?

I believe that the operative term here, might be "think," as in, "that's what Conservatives do, and it makes them awfully lonely in political discussions with the Left."
