I personally don't give a sh*t how much my state gets back in federal spending compared to what we pay in taxes. Why should that make a difference, really? I'm tired of too much spending, period. I don't care if it's in my state or not.
And people have been forced to pay into the social security and medicare systems for YEARS. I don't think they're obligated to turn down the money when it's time for them to retire. (Do you plan on doing that?) They were forced to pay it to the government instead of investing it on their own. Do you believe they forfeit their rights to complain about spending because of that?
The point is we have had socialism in this country for decades. We have had deficit spending in this country for decades. Reagan and both Bush's spent like drunken sailors. Yet, all of sudden its worth protesting now that we have a Democrat in office. If you wanted credibility, you should have started these back in the 80s or at the very least, after Bush submitted his first budget proposal.
In Texas though, you do get to know that you guys are one of the only red states that pays in more in taxes than it gets back. So you do have a beef there.
