Should schools include gay sex as part of sex education curriculum?

Should gay sex be added to the sex education curriculum?

Only if you believe that 'emotional content' and 'sublime psychology' of sexual relationships have no place in the public schools... which was the conclusion of that post.

Because that would require the elimination of Romeo and Juliet from HS English class, among most other classics.

;)

Sex education wouldn't be needed in school if parents did their jobs at teaching their kids. yes?

What does teaching protection have to do with romance stories?

What EXACTLY are these specific "fun stuff" that is so different in regards to health and safety for gays than straights?

I've never seen any study that says biologicaly gays are more prone to get AIDS than straight people. Perhaps you can fill me in?

I have no idea, whenever I hear talk of gay sex I always hear about AIDS. I don't know much about it, I just assumed it was general knowledge.

You could use the same argument for any subject... trigonometry, for instance, or Spanish. The fact of the matter is not all parents are able to teach sex education. In fact I'd be willing to bet that if you were to survey a representative sample of parents from across the U.S., a majority would not be able to accurately draw a diagram of a vagina, uterous, fallopian tubes and overies. No more than the majority could accurately place Nevada, Michigan, and Vermont on a map of the U.S. ;)

You've changed the context of my post. I responded directly to this quote by another poster:

Homosexuality itself should not be a part of sex education in the schools, simply because the emotional content of sexual relationships and the sublime psychology of one's sexuality are not academic lessons any school can ever be equipped to teach.

If the argument is that 'emotional content' and 'sublime psychology' are lessons no school can be equipped to teach, then we might as well do away with the study of Shakespeare and other great authors altogether. We don't read Shakespeare in school because it's entertaining... we read it to understand the beautiful structure and composition of the plays, as well as the incredible drama, tragedy and comedy. Drama, tragedy and comedy are all intensely sublime psychological experiences involving morality, values, good and evil. It might be true that most public schools are ill-equipped to teach these experiences. But I think most of us would agree that the best schools do teach them quite well.

A few years ago i remember hearing an Ohio senator saying he believes gay sex should be added to the sex education curriculum, as it was unfair that straight sex was taught and how to have it safely, which on the contrary is a good point.
Considering gays on this planet number to 1 out of every 10 people, i believe it would only be right to include gay sex in the sex education curriculum so that homosexual boys too can know how to have sex safetly. This is vital knowledge and is neccessary to keep that child from being misinformed in the future should he/she decide to have sex. Its very important we teach our kids how to keep it safe and vital for there health in the future as an adult, and its important this does not exclude anybody.

Whats your ideas?

Eventhough I have a yes or no answer, I can't vote because I don't agree with either reasoning givin in the poll.

They included "gay" sex whenb I was in 8th grade, so if there's going to be a sex ed class at all then I don't see why "gay" sex should be excluded.

Well if you want it to be included surely you then realize its importance for the safety of homosexual teens? Otherwise there would be no possible reason to have it included if it served no logical purpose. Im not saying im for it, i havent voted. Just wondering.

This is why the poll is so messed up, it has no "other" option. I agree with you Jerry.

How about just for informing?

This whole thread reminds me of a funny story that had slipped my mind for some years...

When I was a sophomore in HS we had a very new PE/health teacher, a guy right out of college, probably young twenties. On rainy days, rather than take us into the gym for basketball, he got into the habit of taking us to a classroom for 'sex-ed.' He seemed to think it was really important for us to view these sex-ed movies. This went on for a couple months... with a new and more 'interesting' movie being shown every rainy day. I don't remember if any of them touched on 'gay' sex... but I seriously doubt it.

One rainy day our class was sitting there in anticipation of another racy film, the projector ready to go... when suddenly the much older head coach walked into the room with a stern look on his face. "There will be no more movies," he said. That was it. I don't remember anyone really talking about it after that. But the whole experience was really weird.

;)

See this is why there needs to be an "other" option.

IMO public schools should not have any form of sex-ed AT ALL.

I would be willing to support a sex-ed lesson in a public-school first-aid program, however.

If, IF we're going to have sex-ed in the public school at all then we shouldn't do a half assed job about it.

Call it damage control.

I don't think elective abortion should exist at all either. However, if elective abortion is going to exist despite my vote then I want it to take place in a licensed facility by qualified professionals. This is the same concept.

I disagree but I respect your opinion and willingness to compromise. Kudos.

Would you forbid the discussion of sexual reproduction in the biology class as well? For instance, the difference between oviparous and viviparous animals?

Would it be feasible for a biology teacher to explain the anatomy of a mammal while ignoring the reproductive organs? Would the private parts of a dissected frog or cat be ignored?

How would you structure a lesson about the nature and purpose of DNA and chromosomes while avoiding the topic of 'sex?'

I'm sort of confused why one has to distinguish male-female intercourse with male-male or female-female intercourse. If students are taught that they should use a condom on their penis when inserted into another person's orifices, why does it matter whether the orifice is a man's or a woman's?

Imagine that you're in a desert with a man and a woman and yo're hell bent for sex, whom would you choose to have sex with ?

That would depend on whether you were heterosexual or homosexual.

If I ran the public school system, we'd certainley talk about the beauty of women exploring each others bodies.

Whats exciting about seeing things you already have in your own body ?!

That would depend on whether you were heterosexual or homosexual.

Lets say that you're a Homo, will you make it with the man and leave the woman standing ? I think its better for three of you to have it straight .

If one is a homosexual (and male), of course that person would want to have sex with the man. They would not be attracted to the woman. You are straight, I'm assuming, so it is irrelevant to whether it makes sense to you. You would have sex with the woman. One who is gay would not understand why. See how it works?

I suppose that also depends on whether you are heterosexual or homosexual.

I dont think so.
Of course you'd love to see the second part of the movie than watching the first part again.

What are you talking about? One who is gay would prefer to have sex with someone of their own sex. One who is straight would prefer to have sex with someone of the opposite sex. What do you mean, "I don't think so"?

I was pointing to the "excitement" part, where one get excited when he see something new.
As a straight man, I'd never met gays or talked with any, but am wondering whats good about putting your pennis in the "****hole" ?

What is the "****hole"? The 4 letters are throwing me off. I'am getting strange thoughts about 'other' holes.

It's about getting "excited" when seeing something attractive. Also, as a straight man, if you have seen a woman naked, before, why would you get excited when you see another woman naked...it's nothing new.

It's about being excited about being attracted.

And straight men have anal sex, too. This has nothing to do with that.

:rofl:rofl that made me laugh !!
How many holes are there in "man's" ass ?

This is a joke, right? OK, I'll play along..."how many holes are there in a man's ass"?
