Wouldn't it be more 'continentism' as opposed to 'racism' since their are all kinds of races in Africa? :doh Or is Africa now a race?
Good point.

People often assume when talking about Africa it is inherently a black country. The reality is it contains many races.

Wait...you wrote a book?

So then he could argue that the teacher was in fact the one being racist by claiming racism is regards to the continent of Africa.

Tell him its a free world and those comments you made are not racist but sheer reality and for him to disprove the facts you stated. And and call him a PC reta*rd from me.

"Chronically poor", and in a state of "Perpetual destitution and exploitation"
As a generalization, I'd say the above is an honest and frank assessment.

I would speculate that you could find the exact same descriptives in many UN and NGO documents concerning Africa in-toto.

I'm guessing either the phrasing was like what I put down as an example of a racist version of the content, or the teacher is a total moron.

That's what came to my mind immediately! "African is a race now?", "All the people in Africa are of one race?"

To the OP:
I'd ask him just what race he thought you were being racist towards since the people of Africa are comprised of more than one. Then ask him why he immediately jumped to that conclusion based on the name of the continent of Africa.
