Never posted a poll so not sure if I can do this but I live near a very small town (Uniontown) in Indiana that 3 or 4 years ago an adult business moved in near the interstate. They have been protesting ever since. They take pictures of everyone that stops at this place and post them on a web site (War-line) Is this a violation of peoples rights or do you think this is perfectly alright?

Just tell me how you want the choices to read, and I will add the poll for you. And I think I know which place you are talking about. I was driving through there to Wisconsin, and stopped at an exit for gas(off I-65) and there was an adult store, that had a big wooden fence around it and a "tower" of sorts, looking into the property. I asked the gas station guy what that was about, and he said it was some church that was reporting all the truckers that stopped in there.

That's the place. I guess what I'm wanting to get at is should this be illegal. I am assuming that it is not since they have been protesting since day 1. Personally I don't have a problem with it and have never been in there but I would be pissed if I did go in and someone was taking my picture. Protest is fine but taking my picture and posting somewhere I dont think should be legal without my consent.

I'll put up a couple of options for you. Next time you want to start a poll, before you submit a new thread, towards the bottom, there are check boxes that are empty. One of them will be an option for adding a poll. Check that, submit your thread, and it will take you to the poll options where you fill out the choices and can select how many choices you want, make voting public, etc....

Thanks for the help.

No. It's an invasion of privacy and a form of intimidation.

How lame. How about the church does something churchlike and spend their time and money helping the poor or helping orphans or something?

And what kind of business is it, just an adult store or is there strippers in there too?

Its not against the law. There was a group back in my old town that did this to the Adult Shop there as well. Apparently there's no laws in taking pictures of people entering a private business, just can't go IN the business and take the picture.

That said, its a sticky situation (no pun intended). IN a way, this is how private investigators work. How exactly are you to assure your not going to get your picture taken without your consent? I guess, in theory, perhaps a law that your picture can't be posted without your permission but even that would be difficult to really enforce in some ways.

I think its a bad, rather sad thing to do, but don't know if it should be "illegal"

What a bunch of freakin' freaks.

I strongly suggest everyone checks out the website:

WAR-LINE: War Against Rape-Let It Never End

It's a rollicking good time. It's the "War Against Rape- Let It Never End".

Except all they do is talk about pornography.

I've read a great deal of studies confirming that legalized porn (and prostitution) decrease rape.

So...they're retarded Christians.

This is the page he was referring to I believe. I am sure they are run by the same people.

I want them to take my picture. :2razz:

:rofl:rofl Check out this ****!

A recent survey shows 85 percent of rapes and molestation are reenactments of a porn video/DVD. This means every time someone buys a smut video/DVD there is an 85 percent chance that sale will eventually result in a rape or molestation of a child.

That's some spectacular math skills they be bringin' right there!

This sounds similar with pro-8 opponents printing list of everyone who donated to the yes on prop 8.

It all comes down to what is done with the photos taken, if it is used for any kind of reporting or monetary gain then the church most likely would have to have an investigators license, as for putting the pics on a website, they actually have the right to do that, don't see how they justify it though. If they ask for money from those they post it would be blackmail, if they contacted with the threat it would be extortion, but outside of that if the church isn't doing anything more than snapping photos and posting them they are protected, that doesn't mean they are any less messed up.

What a bunch of freakin' freaks.
I have a rather dark sense of humor, if I knew they were doing that kind of thing ahead of time I'd probably moon them or otherwise have some extremely offensive act up my sleeve.

But can they publish it on the internet? That seems like a violation of privacy to me.

Check out this page from the site:

WAR-LINE.NET

Headline: "NEWS, INFORMATION, PROGRESS ON THE ANTI PORN FRONT"

Then nothing but a blank page! No progress? So sad :rofl

About half the people that they have on the "Gotcha" page are waving their wangs around.

... if they contacted with the threat it would be extortion, ...

Would this warning being posted on the website count as a threat?

WORD OF WARNING - Experience and history over the past 5 years clearly prove virtually everyone posted will
eventually be discovered by family, friends, even employers and church members.

It would take a very creative officer and D.A. to enforce this, I think there are some things that are technically illegal, but ever since the paparazzi have become a part of Hollywood the standards for public photos has changed. Basically, while you are in the store itself the only way those people can take your photo is with the owner's permission, what they are doing is taking the photos in public domain, so they are technically legal. Here's where they tiptoe the line, they are taking the photos to publish in order to shame the business and customers of said business, that is technically a basic form of blackmail, also, they have the goal of doing this until the business shuts down, so that is technically coercion and extortion. Finally, what they are doing could be considered investigative work, so if the state requires a license and they do not have one, they could be charged with that as well, but, like I stated earlier, the logic behind the charges would have to be very concise and well thought out.

On a personal level, I don't care since I don't go into adult stores. I went into one store twice when I wa in my thirties, and just divorced.

I always wonder about motive when things like this happen. If they say anything to the customers or try to intimidate they need to be in prison.

It is a privacy right, A constitutional right, to do what you wish, read what you want, see what videos you want, and go where you wish as long a no one is being harmed.

This church has not business doing this.

I consider it a stupid thing to do, and I am a strong practicing Christian.

We have freedom from and freedom of religion in this country. Leave folks alone. Christian People like these people are harming others, and will probably go to hell.

They could easily be sued. I wonder who they are selling the information to.

On NCFY's link they make fun of the people. My favorite is one of a fat chick and they speculate on her belly augmentation. :rofl
