According to some, Ron Paul is apparently insane. In fact, in this month alone I have heard at least three people refer to him or his policies (although they frequently fail to specificy which ones) as crazy. So, my question to you is, "Is Ron Paul insane?" If so, what has he done to lead you to such a moronic and preposterous conclusion? Moreover, what specific policies of his do you find to be insane and why? Please, refrain from citing his policies as you remember them, instead, quote him directly and progress logically from there.

Well, when you compare him to the average politician who says what people WANT to hear instead of what needs to be said... then yeah, he may be crazy. But I suppose you'd have to call me crazy for wanting someone like that in office.

Ron Paul isn't insane but he has a humongous uphill battle to fight.

He is really the only one screaming to a deaf audience that they must reign in spending and expansion. In our majority is right society people will think he is crazy.

Some of his supporters like the 9-11 truthers and the I only care about legalizing drugs crowd are bad for his image. It paints the rest of us as the same.

Yeah, I hate it when what can be considered "Extremist" groups paint their picture all over an official I like. It instantly makes me wince.

Especially the 9-11 truthers... ****in A!! We will get nowhere with them jumping up and down with support.

The Alex Jones Society is full of nut cases.

They screw the pooch for any of us making progress.

Over analyzing that **** over and over.

I believe that most of those people see his platform and realize how extreme some of his views are, so their first reaction is "omg he's a nutcase".

I like Ron Paul, personally, I think he's a good example for third partys to follow.

Yes, I guess it is insane behavior to ask for an unbiased investigation for an organized crime nowadays.....

Sorry dude but if you are concerned with reducing the size of government and individual liberty. Why waste all your efforts on proving or disproving a single event.

Spend your time pushing small government and individual liberty.

No, it just doesnt garner any support when you have the ridiculous ones that hold up signs telling people that their dead loved ones are alive and being hidden by the government.

Ron Paul is in my opinion a very good man and a terrific american, the only thing I really disagreed with him on was an immediate pull out from Iraq, while it sounds great on paper the resulting power vacuum would be a huge nightmare, the country of Iraq must be stable. Other than that I am probably around 80-90% in agreement with Dr. Paul.

I just post on 9/11 out of boredom but at same time try and keep an open mind. I don't know what to believe, but I find it fascinating how millions can be ignored with their convictions.

What is happening to this country?

Why is it so much to ask for a simple congressional look at all the compelling evidence....then this would shut up the truthers!

Make sense? I don't see any major problem with a simple congressional evidence hearing to shut everyone up.

I'm sure most the truthers would be happy to have some type of closure.

I understand what your saying but you have to put it in perspective.

The government commits what I consider crimes everyday and more than 3000ish people are wronged by them every year.

Why focus on that particular group if you feel that they did that?

I'm not telling you to not to question it at all. I'm asking you to question everything they do. Focusing on one thing will get you no where.

Mentally rooted in the 18th century? Yes

I find this statement quite ironic given your staunch support of an organization whose ideals originated from before the first century AD. Instead of making unsubstantiated blanket statements, why don't we try and find some specific issues we can discuss. I think that would make for a more stimulating debate, don't you?

Insane? No
Mentally rooted in the 18th century? Yes

What was true then is true now, truth doesn't have an expiration date.

Can you name something that is wrong with any of his positions on anything, other than appeals to the age of the notion?

In the minds of classical conservatives, "New Deal" democrats, socialists, fascists, corporatists, elitists, and just plain pessimists, then yes he is going to come off as insane. When someone comes along speaking against facets of government dependent society, those who manipulate government for personal gain are going to do whatever possible limit their reach.

Such entities employ lobbyists and seek political alliance with fellow "liberty leeches" aiming to confuse the populace. And many Americans frighten easily, especially when mega media figures are involved.

What Ron Paul means to the mega rich is that they will have to be more competitive, AKA equal ability to fail.

Hey, where have you been lately?

No, he's probably one of the smarter people to have run for President in this last cycle, especially on the GOP side.

That said, he is a horrible politician.

He seems to have been paid off to let himself be used as
a clown, similar to Buchanan. His high pitched voice had no
chance in presidential politics, and his failure to understand
how money gets its value doesn't fit his education and
experience. Something fishy there.

Hey, where have you been lately?

This board becomes quite a riot during elections: its more fun to watch partisans tear each other apart than participate in it.:rofl

Now that the spammers are gone, its time to step it up a bit...

That said, he is a horrible politician.

He is generally incapable of lying his ass off and manipulating idiots, so, yes, you are right.

Well then it's good to know he'll never get anywhere near the White House other then by taking tours of it or getting invited over for some afternoon tea.

Very true. Instead, it will be someone politically inspired by the freedom movement.
