Indian casinos are the ****. They're much cleaner than the ones in Vegas and don't have as much competition. Those guys do pretty well, to say the least.

...on the other hand, a lot of Indian reservations are third-world Bantustans with horrid poverty.
 
I don't know, I think it is alot harder for them to get ahead. Can anyone name one prominent Native American in the US right now?

They can get ahead if they want to. Just like everyone else in America you have to actually work for what you want instead of waiting for an eternity for everyone to give you what you want.

Why not? It was such an important day for blacks, why can't the Indians have their day too? Are you suggesting the Blacks are more important?

I'm suggesting neither are important. If it takes a person becoming president for a collective people to "have their day" then they have more problems than any political office will offer them.

You're right. But hey I am for equal rights. And that means there should be like 260264234027634 presidents at once. So everyone can have their ****ing day and get over it.

I am for equality under the law. It makes me sick to hear why someone getting something for the first time is historic. I generally try to avoid those situations at all costs. The group think around firsts is retarded.
 
Why don't all the reservations pool the casino profits and divide them equally among all band members?

It sucks for some reservations to be in the boonies and not be able to incorporate casino's successfully.

The federal government owes Native American tribes billions of dollars with interest.

Seriously, though, we took everything they had. Then we sent most of them to the ****tiest place on the continent (Oklahoma). Then we decided that was no longer viable and took most of that.

We, as in US soldiers, massacred hundreds of Native Americans in several different instances. America is founded on their blood, taken by a racist society which had the goal of eradication.

Actually early immigrants and people moving west were trying to peacefully relocate when the indians kept attacking them and the first indian killings were in self defense but usually the group of travelers or homesteaders got slaughtered.. Finally the growing populations of whites were organized and strong enough to address this issue in greater force and it just kept escelating.
 
I vote for Wilma Mankiller for president. She is the former chief of the Cherokee Nation. Her husband Charlie Lee Soap would also make an excellent first man.

I know that the tribes in my area, that have casinos, give money to the members in their tribe. I think the last time I heard, the Puyallup Tribal Indians were receiving around $2,000 a month. The Muckleshoot Tribal Members (I heard) was getting much more than that.

But yes, there are more poor tribes than wealthy ones.

I'm not keen on monopolies though so I wish that the laws would change so other businesses could have slots and smoking at their place of business. Competition is good for the economy. I think it would create more business, more jobs, more revenue for our city. Right now the laws in my area prohibit businesses from slots/smoking so they only place to go is to the tribal casinos.

Back in the day, if you had something someone else wanted you had to be able to properly defend it.

Actually some of the earliest immigrants couldn't support themselves during the harsh winter and resorted to stealing from the Indians. Indian raids were trumped up to inspire hatred and promote the racist society that came to be. I hope you see how ridiculous it is to say the Native Americans are where they are now because of our "self-defense".

I know. The same people who say these things about the Native Americans would go ballistic, say, if we defended the illegal immigrant invasion on the same rationale.
