Police Quotas?

Do you think a new law could be made under the pretense of public safety but actually be made to generate more fine money?

The reason I bring this up is because I recall police officers having to make quotas in their arrests or tickets....so I was thinking if they were consistantly not making their quotas would new laws be made to compensate?

A better system would involve all fines paid for infractions be gathered by the state and then divided and sent back to the city based on population. The worst problem with the current system is the incentive of the city and the police they employ have to take money from the citizens using fines. I doubt police would care so much about minor infractions if they didn't receive budget increases for gathering lots of money from fines.

Personally I think fines should be used only as a means to deter certain behaviors and a punishment. Not a revenue generating scheme, the fact that revenue is generated should be treated and a unintended side effect I am not sure if there any laws saying there must be quotas, I think mostly it is something the police department or city does to make sure police are not just sitting on their ass doing nothing. As for whiners screaming over speed traps..... SCREW YOU!, a licenses does not give you a god given right to drive as fast as you want and not pay attention to the road and road signs. If you do not want a speeding ticket then pay attention to the ****ing road and the signs.

CREATIVEDREAMS ,Thank You for this question/post. In our growing police state ,unfair taxes called ,"fines for everything", will be levied to pay for the cops that will be a significant element in CONTROLLING us all. Big Brother ,and his ministrie of love ,may be here to stay.(What a book,read it if you haven`t). I`m a new addition to the persons who see a growing police state.If we have to sign on to socialism as a need feed and and house the masses,( part of the new world order of Money Whoreing), then you will be proded and beaten into compliance with the rules of socialism. For reference check out communism ,and the nazi manifesto. In my entire life time ,I have never talked like this ,untill the money whore and my government tried to destroy my life or the very opportunity to live a life.
