At some point ‘we the people’ are going to have to figure this out, or “perish from the earth,” imo.

Most of these we will all agree on.

For part two, I encourage you to focus on science. We can start with the basics, such as, "The Earth is round" and "Vaccines save many, many more lives than they harm." Eventually we can work our way up to facts such as "Masks can reduce the risk of spreading viruses" and "carbon dioxide traps heat in the atmosphere."
 
We can all agree that there are way too many wank polls on this site.
 
Given the political climate these days and how divided of a nation we appear to be, about all we can agree on is that gravity is still working.

All bets are off on every other subject.

That theory will hold up only until Trump says something about gravity. If he endorses gravity as a way to keep things on the ground then all bets are off.

It’s slightly puzzling what problem you actually have with seeking common ground but, as it turns out, I don’t actually care.

I have a better question: can you identify anyone other than perhaps a extremist on either end of the political spectrum who would significantly disagree with any of those statements? Please name one, and support your claim with actual facts.

Many of the same people who claim all this fidelity to “science” also tend to ignore that biological sex is a thing, that developing babies in the womb are human and alive, that mixing Covid 19 patients with the elderly is extremely dangerous for the elderly and that hydroxychloroquine might actually be an effective treatment for Covid 19 is some cases.

I agreed with all them...for whatever that's worth coming from a Canadian that spends too much time enjoying American political debate.

But then, I maintain that Americans have far more in common than not, despite what your political parties have convinced you of. Americans always have...I would suggest you haven't changed, you've just been convinced otherwise. But it's not a natural state...which is probably why you guys are fighting with each other so hard, why your cities are burning, and why too many of you are dying from a disease that your death rate would suggest you're in one of the best positions in the world to beat. :shrug:
