Reverend, you're no better right now than those on the left that talk in generalized form about what a "waste" it is and such. You're exactly what Ethereal is talking about, only on the opposite side.
Who the hell are you to tell Chris he's lieing. You think he is, fine. You stated it. Now yo'ure doing nothing but acting like a dick to him, with absolutely NOTHING backing it up save for your own stereotypes and opinion and you act like its fact while being a jerk.
Not every soldier is cookie cutter. We are a nation, and thus a military, of individuals. You're ignorant stereotyping is as bad as those that stereotype it that every military person is either ignorant or hates being in Iraq.
What Dirtpoorchris said is very possible, and at the same time means absolutely nothing in the larger scope of the military for the exact reason I said above. Yes, there is ABSOLUTELY a chance that there are people who feel guilty about what they're doing, feel that its wrong or evil, and feel that the government is betraying them. Yes, there is also a good chance that there are people who feel what we're doing is absolutely needed, the height of patriotism, and is the defining act of our generation. And there's likely a large amount in between that do their job and do it to the best of their ability because that's what they're there to do and they don't really think either way on it.
Not every person joins the military because they're Joe Marine, wanting to roll up his sleeves and serve his country and fight the bad guys. Converesly, not every person that joins the military is a down and out city kid with only a small bit of smarts who has no real option to possibly make something of himself besides going into the military. There are people from both of those scenarios and dozens upon dozens of others in the military. Ignorant people on both sides trying to portray it all, or even mostly, as one or the other is foolish and nothing but a propogandist with a piss poor, ****ty, agenda that gives more care about scoring their partisan points than the lives of those soldiers no matter what pretty words they try to use.
You're better than this Reverend, but right now you're exactly the same kind of person using the troops in your stereotyping as what Ethereal is describing, just doing it from the Right instead of the Left.
