props to Bush on the reaction time
Yeah, that was pretty good timing. I guess he showed he's no *****. He just ducked, smiled and kept standing right where he was. Secret Service comes running in and he just waves them off. It would have been funny if he would have ordered all the Secret Service agents to leave the room and then tell the guy who threw the shoe to, "...sit your ass down!", then go on with the press conference like nothing happened. Then the next thing you see is a stinky, white, tube sock flying by. That's when they arrest him for hurling a "dirty bomb".

Although I understand why he did it, and if there was anything I'd throw at Bush, it would be "in jail", but in all honesty, I don't like seeing people chuckin' **** at my President.

Yes, W moved pretty quickly for an old codger. Oh...and better a shoe than a crap-flinging monkey!

He needs quickness where it counts: Bring Our Troops Home!

He deserves more than shoes. If it was my family that was killed, the thing i'd throw would be much harder and bigger ...
Should it be chucked at him whilst he's representing US? No.
I hope after he steps down from office his life is made hell tbh.

I think when all is said and done (seeing as both DID miss...) then maybe this brought about a good point. In all honesty I am glad they missed but I am also slightly glad that more attention is being brought to where it needed to be. If we don't get change then I'm down with paving a path of change dotted with rotten fruit. Here in America we envision change and most think of spying on us, taxation, and money. In Iraq thier worries are prolly a little different.

2003 Bush would have thrown the shoes back.

In Iraq, throwing a shoe is a form of insult....clearly he knew that hitting Bush with a shoe wouldn't kill him.
As for what Bush deserves, history will determine that. I suspect that he will go down as a president who wouldn't fight in a war when he was young, but isn't reluctant to start a way and let other people's children die for next to nothing.
If he had stuck with the war on terror, he would likey gone down in history as a great president. The Iraq war was was a blunder of the highest order.

Like the journalist was physically attacked by those who kidnapped and tortured him? Like his friends and family who were physically harmed (murdered)?

Tit for tat, I say.

Oh whatever the **** ever. Did Bush do any of that? Did U.S. soldiers do any of that on direct orders from the President? Christina I know it's fun to be an extremist liberal but think for a minute about WHO the shoe was directed at. If some redneck threw a piece of chicken at Obama would you agree with it because of the differences in opinions and grudges conservatives in this country might hold against Obama's clearly supportive stance on gun control? No. Likewise I don't agree with almost 80% of the **** Bush has done in office but would I throw a shoe at him? No. I'd tell him I don't agree with 80% of the **** he's done. I'm not the most civil or classy person in the world but there is savagery and then there is common sense respect. What do you achieve by throwing a shoe at him other then looking like a savage? He's got 35 days left in office. The thing to do now is tolerate him and whatever it was he thinks he's accomplished and then move the hell on.

Pity the show missed that murdering war mongers head, is all I can say. If he killed my family and friends, I'd throw more than a shoe.

Pity you didn't have your way and have the tyrant Saddam still in power feeding people feet first into paper shredders. Spare me your crocodile tears for the plight of the Iraqi people, nobodies buying it.

Prove it or GTFO.

Remember the shoe bomber. What if there was some type of explossive in his shoes. After the first shoe was thrown the secret service should have filled him with lead. Whats up with that?

I was surprised at that.
He got to not only throw 2 shoes but also scream in between throwing them.

The guards seemed dazed and slow

Things George W. Bush can dodge (Updated)
1. Questions from the press
2. The draft
3. Shoes *new*

I agree with you 100%. Its about respecting the office of President. I also disagreed with much of what Bush did as president. But he is our president and I respect him. I voted for McCain and there is much about Obama's political stance that I disagree with. I respect Obama and believe that he should be givin a chance to do whats right for our country.

I don't think Bush deserved that. I feel bad too because everytime I see the clip, I find myself laughing.

You shouldn't feel bad. The entire thing is absurd and absurdity of that magnitude is hilarious.

What are we going to do when Bush isn't in office?

The Daily Show and Colbert Report will go under.

The Onion will have massive lay offs.

Keith Olberman will have a deep existential crisis.

Legions of political satirists, cartoonists and parodists of all type and manner will be forced into the streets.

Imagine, John Stewart wearing a filthy ratty coat, begging on the streets of Manhattan.

His tragic little sign, hand written on a piece of old cardboard from a case of generic vodka, "will make fun of Bush for food"

The entire cast of Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me! will be reduced to doing morning zoo shows and BUYTHISCARNOW! ads.

The comedic left owes Bush so much.

I've not problem whatsoever with this. It's hardly the most nuanced form of political protest, but if a foreign agressor bombed and invaded the US, killing your friends and loved ones, and one of your own responded by chucking a shoe, I suspect you'd find it hard to muster any outrage.

But it took everyone by surprise. That guy got two shoes off and airborn before anyone came to his aid. That's pretty scary.

Yeah, wtf was up with that?

How did he have time to take them both off and throw them without someone laying him out?

How children behave?

Yes. Were you unaware that children generally behave in an emotive and irrational manner?

Kinda reminds me of a little boy that sent thousands of our troops off to die just to settle a score for his Daddy. Ummmm.. Who does that bring to mind? Good Point!

He did not send them off to die. He sent them off to win a war. Sometimes people die in wars. This is not new. I also find your "concern" for the troops to be nothing more than a symptom of your political agenda. You do not speak for them, nor do you speak for their families, so any sorrow you may feel for them is probably misplaced. If I had died in Iraq the last thing my family or I would want is for someone like you using my death as an excuse to attack the President.
